Hermitage Golf Club is a golf course in Lucan, County Dublin, Ireland. It was established over a century ago in 1905, and celebrated its centenary in 2005. The course is renowned for its quality, and is consistently ranked among the best parkland courses in Leinster^[1]. The club is owned by its members, who number several hundred, and has produced many of Irish golf's most promising youngsters.

History[edit]

The club was founded in 1905 on what was then the outskirts of Lucan Village^[2]. It was built on the site of Hermitage House, owned by the Crozier family, and was established when multiple members of the local Lucan Golf Club sought a schism.^[3], as they were unhappy that the club was not under the management and ownership of its members. The fledgling committee then proceeded to seek land over which they could assume ownership of their farmland and construct a golf course. By the autumn of 1905, membership of the club numbered 161, constituting nearly one sixth of the population of Lucan.
