Hi,
I am a user with IP address 213.249.155.239
This address is part of a set of proxy servers provided by EMBC, the East Midlands Broadband Consortium, who provide broadband access to schools and colleges in the East Midlands area of England.
This is the first time I have seen a warning that these addresses are being used to pollute wikipedia, though it comes as little surprise as I am frequently blocked from posting comments at slashdot as the proxy is used by comment spammers and trolls there.
I am not certain of whether the proxy is merely being misused by users behind it, or if it is in fact open to the wide world and thus open to abuse. The latter is unlikely, though given my experience with the broadband providers, it would not surprise me.
I can't really speak for all users behind the proxy, and I'm sure some are behind the problem, though I feel it would be a shame if we were all barred from contributing. I do fully understand your frustration though, so if you feel this is the course of action that must be taken for the greater good, then go ahead.
Cheers,
Peter

Hi, I have edited wikipedia from a school computer and it came up with this ip address. If this address were blocked it would block the whole of Tupton Hall School and possibly others in Derbyshire.

As they say in the movies, "ooh behave". Seriously, though, we are trying to write an encyclopaedia here, so don't make joke edits. Some readers looking for a serious article mightn't find them amusing. Remember, millions of people read Wikipedia, so we have to take what we do a bit seriously here. OK?

Comics dispute

Hi. I've told you before that switching IPs to avoid blocks is not okay. As I understand this whole thing, the problem is that you want to include a number of copyrighted images in these articles, taken from a website that has ordered Wikipedia to not use their content. I'm going to block this IP address because of the evasion-of-block problem, and I hope that you will reconsider the way that you are approaching this situation, because it does you no favours to create more evidence of being disruptive. Jkelly 20:36, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

None of those images are copyrighted. They are images of movie posters (which are now in the public domain) and screen shots of the films themselves. Pietro is trying to remove them and leave no content, For example see the Comicolor page and what he did to it.213.249.155.239 20:39, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

Looking at Comicolor I see that you added Image:Alibaba.jpg, which is marked as a copyrighted promotional poster. Is there any reason at all to think that it would be in the public domain? If it is from a 1936 movie, the copyright likely still holds. See [1] for a tabular breakdown of US copyright law. Jkelly 21:24, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
