Hello, endowment is some capital that provides income for a university. For example, many universities in the US receive donations that are not spent right away but invested in shares or different financial instruments that provide a smaller but regular income. As far as I know, most public universities in Mexico do not have an endowment because they usually get most of their income through a combination of federal/state budgets, tuitions and, rarely, through patent licensing.
