[edit]

I saw your comment in Wikipedia:School and university projects/User:NeuroJoe/Fall 2009: "grade the final, hard copy version of the assignment you turn in". I am sorry, but this is total anathema to me. Wikipedia is not a free host. If you want your students to write essays which you will grade, fine. But do not do it on Wikipedia. If you want them to improve Wikipedia's coverage in a specific area, fine. But do not think that you will be able to grade your students' efforts.

InWikipedia:School and university projects/User:NeuroJoe/Fall 2009 you have listed 31 articles. By all means encourage your students to improve these articles but do not even think of telling them to create parallel articles (we call them "forks").

If you want your students to create gradeable assignments, install the MediaWiki software on your college's computer (free of charge) and let them create their assignments there. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 05:52, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are apparently expecting about three students to work on each topic. What is the point of grading their work as a group? Do you think that you will have the patience to actually work out how much each individual student has contributed? — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 06:18, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

However! Many thanks for being totally open about your project. Some student projects such as these Australian kids take a lot of spotting. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 06:26, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
