Welcome!

Hello, Franey, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Again, welcome!

No insult taken at all, nice work on the article so far. Welcome to Wikipedia, and happy editing! -- Netoholic @ 15:33, 2004 Sep 21 (UTC)

User Page[edit]

You've made great contributions. You're knowledge of languages and extra-European ranks is very impressive. I suggest you create a user page. Folks on the site tend to take more seriously the "blue" users over the "red" users. Keep up the good work! -Husnock 14:58, 28 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Calling something wrong and blatantly removing it without discussion is not a good way to go. How do you know its wrong? Do you have a reference? The Middle Ages origin of the rank of lance corporal is listed in at last three military history texts that I know of. Please do not remove it from the article. -Husnock 21:51, 28 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work on the Balin article. Would you have any qualms about moving it to Sir Balin?--Cuchullain 00:45, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, since you're fairly knowledgeable about Malory, could you check out the Fisher King article and see if anything needs to be changed or added? I added a lot to it but not much from Malory.--Cuchullain 05:47, 16 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

British English punctuation[edit]

Hi Franey. I've reverted back my earlier punctuation amendment on the Royal Navy article - the amendment I made was correct British English punctuation.

If the sentence within brackets stands alone, the full stop will indeed come before the close bracket:

Here is a sentence. (Here is another.)

However, when it is simply a clause within brackets which is part of a longer sentence, the full stop comes after the close bracket:

Here is a sentence (which then continues inside brackets).

Nae worries! CLW 09:19, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Your reverts[edit]

FYI, we have an article that shows five countries use the rank General of the Army and six which use Colonel General. Thats enough to have the ranks listed in the senority table. -Husnock 11:29, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed in your recent edits you stated that the Admiral article was an "innaccurate, confusing mess" and then removed an edit of another user as "absurd". Also the tone on the talk page appears somewhat hostile. Can I politely suggest we tone this down? No one is saying that you are wrong, just that an article as well worked out as General or Admiral should be discussed before changing a central part of it. -Husnock 17:40, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

An article that you have been involved in editing, British and United States military ranks compared, has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/British and United States military ranks compared. Thank you.
