Named references

Hello. You may not be aware that capitalisation is significant in reference names. So when, for no apparent reason, you changed the capitalisation in a reference name with this edit, you broke every call to it, all 16 of them. Surprised you didn't spot the big red error at #78 in the reference list when you checked your edit. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 18:40, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Acknowledged, seriously though I have now noticed all these similar numbered reference tags right down there, so one has fixed them and I can observe them properly. Iggy (Swan) 18:47, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Deletng rows without appearances from international apps tables

Why, as a matter of interest? It's clearer for the reader with them there. Struway2 (talk) 17:56, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Some articles as the one found on Shaun MacDonald currently have the following display
If you'd find that on this, there's no International statistics table there - one way or another should be accepted. Iggy (Swan) 18:07, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know that both formats are in widespread use, and AFAIK either is acceptable. Which is why we need something more than personal preference to change a stable acceptable format to a different one. I see you were reverted at Michael Carrick as well. If you want to take it to the talk page, or to WT:FOOTY, please feel free, but for the time being and without an adequate reason for changing it, I'll put it back to the stable version. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 18:17, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And I reverted myself to restore your version to pipe the James Collins which I should know that the Welsh player has an identifier with it. Iggy (Swan) 18:25, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Format conversions

Don't know what you're using for these url conversions of football club websites, like with this edit at Patrick Bamford, but the two urls you added just go to the news section of the club site. Please go back and check/fix them: a dead genuine original url is far, far, better than a dead never-existed url. Thanks, Struway2 (talk) 16:01, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

And please ignore me... I clicked on those links a minute ago and they didn't work: now they do. Apologies. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:03, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks + invitation

Thank you for your contributions to women's football/soccer articles. I thought I'd let you know about the Women's Football/Soccer Task Force (WP:WOSO), a collaborative effort to improve Wikipedia's coverage of women's football/soccer. If you would like to participate, join by visiting the Members page. Thanks!

Hmlarson (talk) 02:35, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, someone told me that last week or so after engaging in such a "move" at Adrien Rabiot several times. It's just my frustration speaking higher (than in should, of course!) for having to arrange the fields again, no vandalism there no sir. Thanks for the note, happy editing as always! --Quite A Character (talk) 19:10, 18 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Klavan

WP:BLP of Baltic states, birth place are linked to Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania not to the soviet republics. It was occupation, not recognised by rest of the world. Read here Occupation of the Baltic states. People born in Paris 1940 also aren't born in Paris, Germany – Christian Boltanski, Catherine Deneuve, Claudine Auger. –Klõps (talk) 09:55, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

That does not agree with other countries which have been modified over the years, I have taken it to the talk page before viewing this message. However, I have left it as it is. Iggy (Swan) 12:13, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The Potters

Thanks. I like beer :-) Regards. Cynko (talk) 14:10, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

End of season

Please do not change the date in career stats tables to "end of season" - that can be confusing, so please instead use the date updated or the date of the last game. GiantSnowman 18:47, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry about that @GiantSnowman:, it will not happen again. Starting with this, it will now be "13 May 2018" instead. Thank you, Iggy (Swan) 19:24, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
p.s. I've noticed that others have done that not so long ago, I've got the idea from there without knowing. Iggy (Swan) 19:28, 14 May 2018 (UTC).[reply]
(talk page stalker) Is it not useful for our readers to know that the stats have been updated to the end of the season? Paging Struway2. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:42, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I remember now who first used the 'end of the 2017–18' text, from Craig Gardner that was changed to the end of the current season. What gives... Iggy (Swan) 19:47, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@GiantSnowman and Mattythewhite: Agree with Mattythewhite. The point of that wording is to tell the reader how up-to-date the stats are. The precise "as of end of season" is considerably more informative than date of last match or date of update. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 07:47, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

FWIW, I agree with Struway2, Mattythewhite and Iggy. Before reverting, this discussion should go to WP:Football to gain a wider consensus. 77.130.195.244 (talk) 09:53, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, before changing you should get wider consensus. Reverting is restoring the status quo. My issue is that seasons end on different days, and 'end of season; is vague. An actual date is far more useful. GiantSnowman 11:34, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Seasons do indeed end on different days, and that's precisely why using『end of 2017–18 season』is more precise and more useful to the reader. They don't need to know what date any given club's season actually finished, to see that the stats are up to date for that season. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:45, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
What's done is done with the end of season updates when viewing each player's statistics from Soccerbase. Some of the teams below the Premier League are still playing so their seasons is still ongoing. Iggy (Swan) 16:03, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
But the English season hasn't finished - we're waiting the FA Cup final... GiantSnowman 08:27, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The way I see it, it's end of the season for different clubs, only two clubs reach the FA cup final, so their season isn't yet finished, but for everyone else, it kind of is. Govvy (talk) 09:59, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Govvy: - And also Liverpool who are still awaiting their Champions League final. Thus the season ends after that or when the play-offs finish on 28 May, whichever comes later. Iggy (Swan) 11:55, 16 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am the current IP holder and I did not edited any thing on those pages, which was presented here. Some one was using the same IP as main. 107.242.117.10 (talk) 14:18, 30 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

https and archive URLs

@Arjayay: - I've noticed that the contents bit of your talk page was further down than where it normally goes. I have followed that so mine becomes nice and tidy. Thanks, Iggy (Swan) 11:09, 2 March 2018 (UTC) In this edit [1] the http is part of the archive path. In this case it still works, but it doesn't always in every case. Generally http/s shouldn't be touched inside an archive URL path. -- GreenC 14:50, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thanks for the friendly tip. Iggy (Swan) 08:16, 1 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.
Pointing links to disambiguation pages which are usually unintentional. Thanks DPL bot, Iggy (Swan) 09:46, 7 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Tobin Heath, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Atlanta Beat.

Simpsons edit

Why should the period be outside the parentheses? The sentence inside is separate from what comes before it due to the period before the parenthesis, and is a complete sentence. Packer1028 (talk) 23:52, 22 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Packer1028 - I didn't know that was the case - Comic Book Guy's wasted his life bracketed sentence is going to be reverted. Iggy (Swan) 08:29, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
