Apostle of the Nations

[edit]

You added the title, Apostle of the NationsinIslamic views on Abraham. Can you just mention what does it mean and cite something, or add a note? I think there are some ayah's relevant to this. » nafSadh did say 09:10, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely, I will just now. Thanks for the advice!--Imadjafar (talk) 09:13, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK now :) » nafSadh did say 09:28, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Saint Abraham the Prophet?

[edit]

Why shall we write Saint Abraham the Prophet? :O
Is he regarded as a Saint in Islam? I knew, as per Q&H, he is a “prophet and rasul of Allah”. » nafSadh did say 03:42, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I put that, firstly, because, after all, it is the Saint infobox, and thus it is better if Saint is given before the name. 'Saint' simply denotes an extremely pious person, so every prophet, inevitably, was obviously a saint. (Every saint, of course, was not a prophet.) And, if one needs any titles from the Qur'an, I read this (Marmeduke Pickethall translation):

Arabic: صِدِّيقًا (phon:ṣiddīqan trans: man of truth) do not exactly translate into saint. ṣiddīq is analogous to Abu Bakar's title Al-Siddiq. the root S-D-Q relates to truth. Amongst all other trans I've seen, for the verse, only Pickthall translated it as Saint. see [1] & [2]. » nafSadh did say 20:55, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Greetings. I agree that Abraham both was (and still is) a saint and a prophet. I disagree with the use of the word saint as a title, because all God's people are saints, regardless of whether they are strong in faith as Abraham, or weak (like that person that looks back at me in the mirror. :)
It is notable that in the Bible, the first mention of the word prophet is in Genesis 20:7, where God himself, speaking to Abimelech, called Abraham a "prophet". The first and only person in the Bible to be expressly called a saint is Abraham's descendent Aaron in Psalms 106:16-- "They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD." (Note the word "saint" is not capitalized as a title, but is descriptive.)
Anyway, the main reason I dropped by your page was that I noticed that the word "venerated" in infobox saint was changed to "honored", and noticed (here) that you suggested the change. That was a major improvement. Thanks. —Telpardec (talk) 04:48, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gabriel

[edit]
Also, I don't know if you saw my reply to you on my talk page. I changed archangel back to angel on the Gabriel page.
Thanks. —Telpardec (talk) 04:48, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

New Testament Prophets

[edit]

Thanks for your work on this template, and for bringing it to my attention. I've made some changes, and started a discussion on the talk page - the big issue is whether to include Old Testament prophets. The use of italics is also questionable - it raises the question as to who is disputing it and why. StAnselm (talk) 05:21, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Shoaib

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Shoaib requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nominationbyvisiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
