File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Channel Capacity with Power- and Bandwidth-Limited Regimes.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 00:25, 9 July 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:25, 9 July 2010 (UTC) [reply]

Resolved - If you could consider adding a brief summary of relevant formulae in the image description this image can now move to commons :) Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:12, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merging and Template:Copied

[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you performed the merge for Charcot-Bouchard aneurysm and that you do other merging work. It looks like you use proper edit summaries and {{R from merge}}. Thanks for all of that. It would be helpful if you could also use {{Copied}} on the talk pages. Let me know if you have any questions. Flatscan (talk) 04:24, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Isheden!

You are making many positive contributions to optimization articles.

You may wish to consider introducing yourself or even joining a WP:WikiProject, for example in mathematics, computer science, and systems (e.g., optimization): The WikiProjects' main-pages and talk-pages may interest you.

Best regards,  Kiefer.Wolfowitz 18:01, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please consider/vet my moves of relaxation methodtorelaxation (approximation) and of relaxation techniquetorelaxation (iterative method); these moves tried to resolve problems discussed regarding a proposed renaming of the category, category:relaxation methods, which is being discussed.  Kiefer.Wolfowitz 22:18, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Given your interests in duality and in convexity, you might like to look at Shapley–Folkman lemma, which I'm trying to improve to A- (and soon thereafter) to Featured-Status. There is a small (summary-style) section on optimization, which might especially interest you.

Sincerely,  Kiefer.Wolfowitz 22:36, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fractions category tags

[edit]

Hi. I was wondering if you might reconsider your removal of the Fractions category tag from "localization of a ring" and "total quotient ring". If you still want to maintain these changes, can you let me know what your criteria are that you're deciding with? At first glance, including the Fraction category for these two articles seems appropriate. Thanks, Rschwieb (talk) 17:26, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A mistake

[edit]

Your answer  in Talk:Fraction_(mathematics) is not correct, because you have removed the last paragraph and your signature of an anterior message, to bring that paragraph elsewhere.  If you want, you can cancel your last modification, then you can write again your answer.  We must be rigorous to be credible.

Hi. When you recently edited Fraction (mathematics), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Division (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:40, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your invitation to participate in a Wikimedia-approved survey in online behavior.

[edit]

Hello, my name is Michael Tsikerdekis[1][2], currently involved as a student in full time academic research at Masaryk University. I am writing to you to kindly invite you to participate in an online survey about interface and online collaboration on Wikipedia. The survey has been reviewed and approved by the Wikimedia Foundation Research Committee.

I am contacting you because you were randomly selected from a list of active editors. The survey should take about 7 to 10 minutes to complete, and it is very straightforward.

Wikipedia is an open project by nature. Let’s create new knowledge for everyone! :-)

To take part in the survey please follow the link: tsikerdekis.wuwcorp.com/pr/survey/?user=14165625 (HTTPS).

Best Regards, --Michael Tsikerdekis (talk) 12:04, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

PS: The results from the research will become available online for everyone and will be published in an open access journal.

UPDATE: This is the second and final notification for participating in this study. Your help is essential for having concrete results and knowledge that we all can share. I would like to thank you for your time and as always for any questions, comments or ideas do not hesitate to contact me. PS: As a thank you for your efforts and participation in Wikipedia Research you will receive a Research Participation Barnstar after the end of the study. --Michael Tsikerdekis (talk) 19:19, 14 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pareto's distributions

[edit]

At the start of Pareto distribution it is probably okay to say simply "Pareto distribution" rather than qualify it as Pareto I, because Pareto proposed all of the types I, II, III and all three are named for him. I refer to Kleiber and Kotz for the history and genesis details. Mathstat (talk) 21:44, 3 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On the CDF of GPD

[edit]

Sometimes Pareto (IV) is called the generalized Pareto distribution; it has three parameters. The GPD described by Ljubo (1965) has three paramaeters, but it does not resemble what is in the article. Hosking and Wallis (1987) give the equivalent CDF as the one in Continuous Univariate Distributions. I will add the Hosking and Wallis citation to the article, but it does not support the CDF of the article. Compare the definition in this GPD article with the CDF at Generalized extreme value distribution. It looks almost like a copy-paste accident. The two distributions are related, but the relation would be more complicated than what these two pages would suggest. Or maybe I am missing something ... Credo Reference

[edit]

I'm sorry to report that there were not enough accounts available for you to have one. I have you on our list though and if more become available we will notify you promptly.

We're continually working to bring resources like Credo to Wikipedia editors, and this will very hopefully not be your last opportunity to sign up for one. If you haven't already, please check out WP:HighBeam and WP:Questia, where accounts are still available. Cheers, Ocaasi 19:13, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Salmonidae

[edit]

Would you please explain your rationale for removing Category:Salmonidae from Category:Salmon, salmon, trout and other articles. Thanks. --Epipelagic (talk) 22:18, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The main rationale for removing Category:Salmonidae from salmon and trout is that they are not considered taxa (which is what the category comprises according to its description), although all species belong to the Salmonidae family. Moreover, the articles appear to be sufficiently categorized by the remaining categories. An option would be to widen the definition of Category:Salmonidae to something that would include salmon and trout. What's your opinion? Isheden (talk) 10:09, 18 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Article Feedback deployment

[edit]

Hey Isheden; I'm dropping you this note because you've used the article feedback tool in the last month or so. On Thursday and Friday the tool will be down for a major deployment; it should be up by Saturday, failing anything going wrong, and by Monday if something does :). Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 22:03, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Development of Angular Velocity

[edit]

Hello Isheden,

You recently undid a modification to the article on Angular frequency and rightfully so. I have updated this modification into the talk section under the title Connections to Oscillatory motion. Please let me know of your criticisms. Jatosado (talk) 02:59, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Isheden, you recently put in a technical move request but didn't specify which page you wanted moved. Please try again, or just let me know here on this page and I'll do what I can. --BDD (talk) 07:17, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What I tried was
Don't understand why it doesn't work? Isheden (talk) 07:30, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hm. I don't know what you're doing, but no titles are showing up. Why don't you give me the current and proposed titles in plain wikilinks? --BDD (talk) 07:37, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I wanted to move Partial fractiontoPartial fraction decomposition. Reason: The term partial fraction is not defined in the article; one normally speaks of partial fraction decomposition (or partial fraction expansion). Isheden (talk) 07:44, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done I still don't know what the problem was though. --BDD (talk) 07:57, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
