Welcome!

Hello, J306, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

Thanks for creating articles on wikipedia, but you need to specify the artist whose album page you created. Welcome once again, and remember, the sandbox can be used for testing the format of the wiki, if you are unsure. Wikipedia uses html, not forum space tags, eg. "'<*br />'" not "'[*br]'" (remove star * signs). Happy Wikipeding! Duey Finster 20:12, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:Aftb.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aftb.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. --OrphanBot 07:09, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your test has been removed or reverted: Cold Single[edit]

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia by creating the page Cold Single. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. ---Casper2k3 19:34, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Crossfade cold single.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Crossfade cold single.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Orphaned non-free image (Image:5872.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:5872.jpg. Fair use rationale for Image:8809053130595.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:8809053130595.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 04:08, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:8809053130595.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:8809053130595.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 04:08, 26 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 04:08, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:B0006TPHTO.01. SCLZZZZZZZ .jpg[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:B0006TPHTO.01. SCLZZZZZZZ .jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:33, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Basketballshortslarge.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Basketballshortslarge.jpg.

Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Dbmttoo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dbmttoo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. I have nominated Ozzy Bloody Ozzy, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ozzy Bloody Ozzy. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Speedy deletion nomination of CDA-9886[edit]

A tag has been placed on CDA-9886 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}tothe top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello, I'm Leyo. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Perfluorooctanoic acid, but you didn't provide a reliable source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Leyo 17:56, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Quick notification[edit]

Hi, my name is ALH. I've been helping move images from Wikipedia to Wikimedia and recently transferred three of your images: File:Rebaudioside A.gif, File:Mogroside II E.gif, and File:Mogroside VI.gif. When I moved them, I changed them from the copyright tag that you had to the tag: {{PD-chem}}. I did this for a few reasons that I would like to explain to you.

1. The Wikipedia manual of style prefers it for chemistry structural drawings. See: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Chemistry/Structure drawing#Uploading and copyright
2. Because these images do not meet the threshold of originality, they cannot be copyrighted, putting them in the public domain. Placing a tag that isn't a public domain tag, such as {{PD-chem}}, on a public domain image could be both confusing and misleading to someone who isn't familiar with public domain law.
3. Under 17 USC §506 (c), it is illegal (and can result in a fine of up to $2,500) to "place on any article a notice of copyright or words of the same purport that such person knows to be false." This means that it is illegal on your part to claim that you are the copyright owner of the images above. You will still be credited as the author of the images, you just can't legally claim copyright over them.

Now, if you wish to change the copyright tags back to what you originally had them as, you can, but please keep in mind what I have listed above. I would also just like to say that you are not in trouble for anything, nor am I saying the images are in risk of being deleted. I am simply just letting you know why I did what I did. Please let me know if you have any questions. A. L. H. 05:24, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ozonated Olive Oil requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nominationbyvisiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
