Welcome[edit]

Hello, Jlukeedwards and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one.

Go through our online training for students.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Helpme}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and should be treated accordingly.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! MrScorch6200 (talk) 02:54, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 18[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Endoscopic endonasal surgery, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Dens and Clivus (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Self Introduction[edit]

My name is John Lukas "Luke" Edwards, and I am a Biomedical Engineering student at Georgia Tech.

Response to Questions[edit]

Sorry about the username error, I'm not sure why nothing was showing when I was checking your page. I looked at the revision history and it was there, so I updated your credit.

In terms of fluff, I just mean extra wordy sentences. If a word is not necessary for complete understanding of the sentence, don't use it.

Example: "The problem with some of the suprasellar tumors are that they start to invade the chiasmatic cistern, which leads to impaired vision"

Could be more concisely worded as: "Some suprasellar tumors invade the chiasmatic cistern, resulting in impaired vision"

Or "The common types of problems include:" as just "Common problems include:"

This is supposed to be encyclopedic. People read them (well, wikipedia now) to answer some very specific question they have (what is X, who is Y, etc...) Extra words make it a lot easier for readers to get lost in the text and miss the facts they were looking for.

Think of it like a lab report not a writing piece (coincidentally, you are essentially just reviewing a bunch of lab reports).

You've obviously put a lot of work into it, just a little refinement would go a long way. It would be a shame if people got a paragraph into it and closed the page because they were reading in circles.

Good luck. --Alec DeFilippo (talk) 04:08, 23 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 25[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Endoscopic endonasal surgery, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ostium (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article Acral has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This belongs on Wiktionary, not here. See WP:NOTDIC.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
