The fact was ... that Martina Fernández plays football for Barcelona and studies part-time at a biomedical laboratory? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Martina Fernández (footballer). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Martina Fernández (footballer)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Hi! How's it going? I know you recently haven't edited much about Venezuela cinema, but I just wanted to let you know I recently started the Venezuelan cinema in the 2020s article, during Simón's GA nomination. Since this is the first article of this kind that I create, I wanted to ask if you had any advice about structure or possible additions. Best wishes! Hamraoui case - reference[edit]

Hi, thanks for your feedback. I'm still not sure why you removed the September 16th 2022 arrest of Diallo ("mise en examen" in French). I understand you don't want a chronological order, but the date is "legally" more serious than the first Diallo arrest. Does it have to do with "arrest =/= conviction"? For Molina, the issue is that some sources are from social media or YouTube. How do you reference a social media source? I understand they are not usable as a newspaper source. Jheronimus (talk) 13:53, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:NYPOST is not a reliable source, in general, and there are examples of them deliberately misleading with information about crimes to make people seem more or less guilty in a way that is sensationalist and/or fits NY Post's preferred narrative. Those examples relate to New York, but I have no confidence that they would be more diligent in ensuring accuracy when covering a story that isn't about the city their primary readership is actually familiar with. Kingsif (talk) 14:34, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. It's a tabloid. If you need two solid sources: https://www.lemonde.fr/en/sports/article/2022/09/16/footballer-aminata-diallo-placed-in-custody-once-again-over-teammate-hamraoui-s-assault_5997128_9.html

    WikiCup 2024 March newsletter[edit]

The first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.

The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:

In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to Vami_IV (submissions), who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.

Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Featured script[edit]

Making user scripts load fasterbySD0001 is this month's featured script, which caches userscripts every day to eliminate the overhead caused by force-downloading the newest version of scripts every time you open a Wikipedia page. Despite being released in April 2021, our best script scouters have failed to locate it due to its omission from the US of L. For security reasons, the script only supports loading JavaScript pages.

    Newly maintained scripts[edit]

After earthly attempts at improving the original have failed...

Women in Green GA Editathon June 2024 - Going Back in Time[edit]

    Hello Kingsif:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in June 2024!

Running from June 1 to 30, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Going Back in Time! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 20 centuries by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!

    Question from Jakeswimfan888 (15:00, 30 May 2024)[edit]

If someone adds unsourced info to an article but claimed it was sourced and adds a paywalled source. But you suspected it was wrong and also you have subscribed to that paper and can read the paywalled article. If you know they are deliberately adding in falsehoods or unsourced statements into the article, how do you deal with that scenario? Is there like an authority editor who is willing to subscribe to paywalled articles and resolve this? Not sure what to do. --Jakeswimfan888 (talk) 15:00, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The first thing to do is challenge the user to provide the part of the article that supports their statement on the talkpage of the article on Wikipedia. If it still seems sketchy, you can ask them to send you the entire source via email. If they're refusing to do either, remove the content under WP:V and explain that you have tried to verify. Depending on what the source is, regular Wikipedia editors can get free access to certain sources through the WP:Wikipedia Library, but there will also be a variety of editors who are subscribed to different things. I don't know if WP:Resource exchange is as popular as it used to be, but asking there. Kingsif (talk) 20:59, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I now see User:Macrakis has already responded - yes, follow that advice too! (And to Macrakis etc., feel free to reply here to things if you want) Kingsif (talk) 21:00, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Gaurab Singha Roy (12:02, 4 June 2024)[edit]

Hello, I am looking to publish an article on Mr. Harsh Malhotra, who was previously Mayor of Delhi, India. He is currently contesting elections from Delhi, India. Should I wait for the electoral results to come out or should I do it anyway? Thanks. --Gaurab Singha Roy (talk) 12:02, 4 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You can write an article at any time as long as it meets notability, has a neutral point of view, and you do not have a conflict of interest. Kingsif (talk) 14:09, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Question from Fahmyk (10:15, 5 June 2024)[edit]

Hey I want to make an article about a company here --Fahmyk (talk) 10:16, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If it is a company you have any relation to, you should read WP:COI first. Kingsif (talk) 14:10, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    WikiCup 2024 July newsletter[edit]

The third round of the 2024 WikiCup ended on 28 June. As with Round 2, this round was competitive: each of the 16 contestants who advanced to Round 4 scored at least 256 points.

The following editors all scored more than 400 points in Round 3:

The full scores for round 3 can be seen here. So far this year, competitors have gotten 28 featured articles, 38 featured lists, 240 good articles, 92 in the news credits, and at least 285 did you know credits. They have conducted 279 featured article reviews, as well as 492 good article reviews and peer reviews, and have added 22 articles to featured topics and good topics.

Remember that any content promoted after 28 June but before the start of Round 4 can be claimed during Round 4, which starts on 1 July at 00:00 (UTC). Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether for a good article, featured content, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed.

If you would like to learn more about rules and scoring for the 2024 WikiCup, please see this page. Further questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Hello, Kingsif. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "List of frequent collaborators of Ryan Murphy".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material, the draft has been deleted. When you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 20:40, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This draft is marked as promising (not by me) and so not to be deleted under G13. I mean, I don't have the time to work on it and will recreate at a later point if/when I do, but if that tag is simply ignored, why have it in the first place. Kingsif (talk) 20:56, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
