Welcome

[edit]

Hello Michaelbuddy, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! You 17:46, Jun 14, 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading Image:GafferTape.jpg. Its copyright status is unclear, so it may have to be deleted. Please leave a note on the image page about the source of the image. Thank you. kmccoy (talk) 17:59, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Updated the image, as it's proprietary. Sorry because I didn't trust the image's link staying power in the websites product directory. So I copied and uploaded it. I hope it doesn't need to be deleted, as it helps the article.

This image has been tagged as a copyright violation, and will be deleted. All photographs are inherently copyrighted (except the US federal government), and cannot be used in Wikipedia unless released under a free license or a compelling fair use claim can be made. -- Cyrius| 07:37, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

A couple things

[edit]

I'm glad to see that you're digging in and making contributions. A couple of things:

Remember to always sign all of your postsontalk pages. Typing four tildes after your comment ( ~~~~ ) will insert a signature showing your username and a date/time stamp, which is very helpful.

Also, it is preferred that images on Wikipedia be licensed for use under a free license. Take a look at Wikipedia:Copyrights, especially the image guidelines section for information on it. Images from the adorama catalog may be a copyright violation and may need to be deleted. :/

My professional field is stagecraft -- I'm a theatre person, not a film person. But our interests overlap, so that's why I noticed your contributions. Thanks again for editing, it's always nice to have more entertainment people here. :)

C47 went away

[edit]

I thought when my article was going to be merged that it would also still exist. But my c47 clothespin article went away. that sucks. I recreated it though. apparently the airplane c47 was stealing the thunder. C47_Clothespin and C74_Clothespin

Michael:
I merged the information into clothespin. It doesn't seem to me that it needs an entire article just on calling it a C47, and especially not another article about turning it around. The information is contained in the article clothespin. That better serves the term without creating a separate article for every possible term. Take a look at Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not, it's not a jargon or usage guide.
Also, in addition to creating C47_Clothespin and C74_Clothespin, you also changed back C47 and C74. So now there are two articles of each of those. What I think should be done is that C47 Clothespin and C74 Clothespin should change into redirect pages and C47 and C74 should be turned back into disambiguation pages. Please let me know what you think of this, and what you think of clothespin. Thanks. :)
By the way, your two images (the images of gaff tape and a scrim from the adorama catalog) are in questionable legal ground. It would be much, much better if you could take a photograph of gaff tape or a scrim yourself and upload that and agree to license it with the GFDL. Images from catalogs *might* be usable under the "fair use" provisions of US copyright law, but it's a very shaky situation. Images licensed under the GFDL or other free license are preferred in wikipedia as they eliminate the legal questions of use.
Thanks for being patient with this stuff. :) kmccoy (talk) 07:15, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
It seems to be all taken care of. Thanks again. Keep adding stuff. If you've got a camera, go take some pictures of a scrim or some gaff tape. :) kmccoy (talk) 18:34, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Dotgain.png

[edit]
Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Dotgain.png. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Unspecified source for Image:Elephantsdream.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Elephantsdream.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 05:44, 19 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 05:44, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:Amezaiku.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
