  • Disambiguation link notification for October 5

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Interstate 84 (Pennsylvania–Massachusetts), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New York Department of Transportation. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

    Re: (User talk:ais523) Catwatch.js broken

Sorry for the late reply, but I decided to have a check round of my user scripts again. I hope that catwatch is working again now (you may need to bypass your cache. (I've only tested Monobook; if you use Vector and it isn't working for you, let me know.) --ais523 09:56, 5 October 2014 (UTC)

    accessdate

When you make an edit like [1], do you make sure that the cited website still supports the assertion? If not, you should be using the date the reference was added, not the current date. --NE2 10:27, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

I think I might understand what you meant, but can you explain just to be sure? Thanks. I don't mean to make any bad edits. Allen (Morriswa) (talk) 22:59, 4 October 2014 (UTC)
accessdate is the date at which the site was accessed and found to support the text before the reference. If the site changes in the future, the accessdate lets you find a previous version on archive.org to verify. --NE2 01:11, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
Bump. You're certainly not checking references to see if they support the statements (for example, on U.S. Route 19 in Florida, neither reference supports that it's being upgraded "due to the cancellation of an extension of Interstate 375 in the late 1970s", though this is likely the original editor's sloppiness with sources). Given this, the only thing your accessdate is saying is that the link was not a 404 at that time. --NE2 10:29, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

    Reflinks

That script is a good start at filling out citations, however it is not a stopping point. Part of what I did in this edit was to shift content. Sometimes that script will credit the Associated Press as an author, when it should be crediting it as the wire agency (aka |agency= ) instead. Also, sometimes it leaves the name of a publication in the title, or it adds that the publication is the publisher.

Anyway, when you're using Reflinks, you should be willing to spend a few moments to just double check things, and then tweak or clean up the citations. That means you should slow down just a little. Ultimately, you're responsible for the changes you make with any script, and it would help greatly if you could add that little extra polish when using it. Imzadi 1979  04:32, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edittoU.S. Route 31 may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:

Hi. In the article The Trace (Land Between the Lakes) you misspelled Trigg County it is Trigg not Twigg County in the transportation category. ACase0000 (talk) 00:40, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Oops. Sorry. Thank you for noticing. That category doesn't yet exist. Allen (Morriswa) (talk) 01:20, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
You are welcome. No problem. ACase0000 (talk) 01:30, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
I was thinking about the Category:Transportation in Twiggs County, Georgia category. Dee-dee-dee! Allen (Morriswa) (talk) 02:51, 19 October 2014 (UTC)
