(←) Thank you for the kind words! You seem to be the exception, though. Alas, I don't see myself coming back.
The last incident where I was accused of supporting copyvio and purposefully misrepresenting the situation was just the tip of the iceberg. I'm certainly not saying that I was innocent but the amount of bad faith that is regularly assumed is startling. Everybody makes mistakes now and then, but if the majority stayed sane things could be more easily resolved rather than letting them escalate. What is more frustrating in my case is that my apology hasn't even been accepted, as far as I can tell, and the message that I tried to bring across was to no avail. Ironically, that all happened on the very day I had come back from an already long wiki break.
And then there are also the MediaWiki devs, to whom talking to is like talking to a wall.
So why continue contributing when the negative experience overwhelms the positive? I have already stayed away from editing for a while now and I must say it feels like a relief.

As one of the original 100 JSTOR account recipients, please fill out the very short email form you received just recently in order to renew your access. Even though you signed up before with WMF, we need you to sign up again with The Wikipedia Library for privacy reasons and because your prior access expired on July 15th. I know you're retired, but you edited one of your scripts as recently as 4 months ago, so, perhaps you will still respond. I haven't been able to get that script to work. It takes input in the fields, but the buttons don't work. Any ideas? — Arthur Rubin (talk) 04:07, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
