Will you please stop editing this players default sort to "Macallister" his surname is spelt "McAllister" therefore the default sort should be the same. "Macallister" is a misspelling of his name and thus he will not be sorted correctly in categories unless the default sort is correctly spelt as "McAllister". Just seen your response to WATP above. I've put the four articles I reverted back as they were when you edited them, pending confirmation that this is the way to go. - Dudesleeper · Talk22:00, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I commented there; but, the village pump is a better place to seek consensus on matters such as this. Also, it is far more than just soccer/football articles you would be affecting. WP:WPBIO probably has something to say on the matter of alphabetizing people. Neier14:53, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Would you please explain why the DEFAULTSORT you added to Eddie McGoldrick has his last name spelled "Macgoldrick", which is completely different from everywhere else in the article. The comment says "Please use Macgoldrick, i.e. with an 'a', to assist category sorting" but that is not his name. I am assuming there is a valid reason, and it would help to add that reason to your comment so that others can understand and don't have to repeatedly ask the question. Thanks.
