Hey! I've been mulling over a response for a couple of days, as you can tell, as I hoped to come up with some advice for editing, but unfortunately I just don't remember much from when I first started editing, as that would have to be years ago at this point. I guess "include edit summaries"? You already do that, though... In any case, I just wanted to express that, even if I don't have advice, I'm super happy that I was a part of you joining! Like, my day was made when I noticed the kitten :). I suppose what I'm getting at is that I, as an editor, am not perfect, but with enough people, Wikipedia can be much better, so knowing that I made an impact in the population is huge, at least to me. On a related note, I'd like to invite you to find your niche; at least in my experience, because of the size of Wikipedia, it's hard to be every "kind" of editor, so, (even if only to get started), I'd recommend trying out different "kinds" of editing. I enjoy being a part of the RCP, but if that's not for you, then maybe creating articles about a topic you like could be fun? (No matter how minor it may be! You could totally make a niche researcher's day.) If not, then searching articles about common things and trying to improve them could be entertaining (i.e., like what we did with the iPad Pro article). I could go on about this, and I also could go on about what you should research, but I'll leave it at the following: Be bold, but not reckless, and (especially if you plan to try out RCP) read up on the policies and guidelines (this is a good place to start, but I'd recommend setting aside some time to do a deep dive into anything that you don't fully understand/anything not listed in that page). All that being said, remember that Wikipedia editing shouldn't be a chore; I'm not trying to pressure you into doing something that you don't wish to do! If you don't want to learn about Wikipedia's inner workings, then please, don't feel obligated to. The editing you have already done/are already doing is just fine.
I'm just now realizing how much I've written, and I apologize for making you read it all. I guess I did end up having some advice! No matter what, all that word vomit aside, have fun editing and thank you for the kitten. ReadItAlready (talk) 10:59, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
