Thank you[edit]

December songs

... for your excellent refutation of certain bullets (compare Maritana)! Did you notice that Sibelius has an infobox? - Keep your stance in mind for next time, but better would be no next time. - Season's greetings will appear on my talk, stay tuned if interested ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:07, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Alfonso Soriano[edit]

I was looking on his page. It doesn't say world series champion for '99 and 2000. Just thought that was odd. JohnnyHighRise (talk) 18:50, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

JohnnyHighRise That's because Soriano was not on the Yankees' rosters during either World Series, hence why he did not play and is not listed among the world champions in those years. Songwaters (talk) 19:37, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That shouldn't matter. Jorge Soler, Jason Hammel,Munenori Kawasaki all got a world series ring. They even celebrated with the cubs in 2016. No matter what players added to a ML roster before September 1st are eligible for a world series ring. JohnnyHighRise (talk) 20:52, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

JohnnyHighRise: I'm afraid it does matter. Just because someone gets a World Series ring doesn't mean they're official world champions. They have to have appeared on their team's postseason roster. I'm not the right person to complain to about this; please go to WikiProject Baseball if you want this to change. Songwaters (talk) 22:15, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I just figured I'd tell someone the info was missing. Like I said with the 3 players I named with the 2016 cubs. They didn't appear on the postseason roster. They still won a ring. The perfect example is jorge soler. He wasn't on the roster but he's a 2x world series champion JohnnyHighRise (talk) 02:45, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Splash hit[edit]

Why did you deleted the reference to "splash hit?" It is both RS-supported. And there is a link on wp for it. Why do you object to that, and insist on changing it, with substituted descriptive language? It is neither arcane, nor incorrect. Thanks. --2603:7000:2143:8500:4F3:7CF2:63B3:EC19 (talk) 02:05, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Home runs hit into McCovey Cove are only splash hits if a Giants player hits it; therefore, it is impossible to record a "splash hit" as both a Giants player and a visiting player. When he hit the home run as a Dodger, it was a home run, but not a splash hit. Songwaters (talk) 02:53, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:40, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

First edit of 2023[edit]

Your recent edittoWhen Harry Met Sally was the first edit in 2023, at least going by UTC; congrats! 2A00:23C8:4782:301:B494:9207:DDFF:1917 (talk) 00:09, 1 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

hey there! since the title of the cover song uses a curly apostrophe, not a straight one, I don't think the move would be covered by MOS:CURLY. Is there a part of the guideline I'm missing? theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/her) 06:17, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Theleekycauldron: I don't see an exception for songs with the curly apostrophe in the title on the album/single cover. We don't apply that to What's Going On, (I Can't Get No) SatisfactionorMaxwell's Silver Hammer. Songwaters (talk) 14:36, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
those songs are titled with curly apostrophes? if so, Spotify's overwritten them. The ACLU of Hawai‘i article does use a curly (inverted) apostrophe – I would think that common sense is that COMMONNAME policy supersedes CURLY guidelines in the general case. theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/her) 07:34, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
