Bernard Wright's mother

[edit]

I knew Bernard growing up and his biological mother is Lessie Wright. His grandmother is the one who raised him for reasons that I will not go to on here. He has played with Roberta Flack but Ms. Flack is not his mother. If u speak to Mr. Wright or Ms. Flack they would tell u the same. The New York Times article that is being referenced is just plain wrong and should not be referenced to his page. Also, it is so disrespectful to Mr. Wright and his mother to insinuate anyone else as his mother. Spoiler172 (talk) 04:40, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Spoiler72. Can you point me to reliable sources that confirm this? There is a fair bit of journalism that has reported that Flack is Wright's mother, and we can't confirm what should be in the article through hearsay. Chubbles (talk) 13:11, 6 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Like I stated the source I have is Bernard Wright himself. I visited him when he was still in his teens in his home and he himself told me that he was raised by his grandmother, but Lessie Wright is his biological mother. At this time he was already an in demand session player. I also not too long ago was in contact with Alvin "Winky" Flythe who wrote one of the songs on Bernard's debut album 'Nard and he gave me an update on what Bernard is doing now. Bernard also treated me as a senior in high school by accompanying me with his piano as I played my horn on a musical number. I play valve trombone. I am from Queens where Bernard grew up also and so many of the "Kats" would find it ludicrous on what u are saying. The liner note on his debut album are HIS words that identifies Lessie Wright as his mother. This is not someone writing it on his behalf. Do u have the album that u can see this for urself? U need to reach out to people that KNOW him or u can reach out to Bernard himself directly. But my source is Bernard Wright himself. As for the NYT article I cannot fathom where that info came from. I suggest u can reach out to Ms. Flack through her website (I am sure she has one) and her publicist would respond on her behalf on this matter if u cannot reach Bernard. But I know Roberta Flack is not his mother and people that know him from his childhood would state the same. I have reached out to Ms. Flack's publicist questioning on how and/or why this falsehood got started. I am waiting on her response. It has been three (3) days since I reached out to Ms. Flack's publicist through an email and I still have not got a response on this issue.
