Minor edits[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 19:04, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributionstoWikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

  • Recent changes
  • Watchlists
  • Revision diffs
  • IRC channels
  • Related changes
  • New pages list
  • Article editing history
  • Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Tyre column[edit]

Hi, please don't add a tyre column for races where all competitors used the same tyre - it is an redundant column as it doesn't tell you anything. Instead just add a sentence in the background section: "All competitors used Pirelli tyres.

Although, I would go as far as to argue that a tyre column shouldn't be used anywhere. Instead a couple of sentences "Teams 1, 2 and 3 used Pirelli tyres and all other teams used Bridgestone tyres" would work much better. Thanks, SSSB (talk) 16:20, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@SSSB: {{ping|SSSB}} Hi SSSB. Sorry, I'm new to a lot of this so hopefully you receive this reply! I saw your advice and did take heed of it, only adding it for races with multiple tyre suppliers but someone has reverted all the Tyre data I added. Was it you? If so, beyond the fact that it took me hours to add it, I think it's very valid and interesting data, usually included in more thorough race results. My plan was to add it to all Formula One World Championship results but I don't want to plough more time into doing so if my efforts are going to be removed? Would you feel happier about it if I added links against the suppliers? (click here for link). —User:Theoutside29 (talk) 15:54, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there. I should start by clarifing that I wasn't the one who removed the tyre data (for races with multiple sullpiers). I daresay, though I am guessing, that they reverted the info because they didn't think it a necessary addition. They just didn't communicate this very well. I suggest that the best step forward (to avoid an WP:EDITWAR) would be to start a discussion at WikiProject F1's talk page where you can make a case for the content. SSSB (talk) 17:14, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@SSSB: {{ping|SSSB}} SSSB - I appreciate you taking the time to communicate with me and I will start the discussion as you mention. Thanks for maintaining high standards for F1 content on Wikipedia too! I only want to do the same! :)

    ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
