A tag has been placed on Carolyn Conant Van Blarcom requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

it is not relevant or important enough to have it's own Wikipedia page.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nominationbyvisiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Thirukannan, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:45, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for December 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Surmukhi Raman, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hariharan (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

    ArbCom 2019 election voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:24, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Arunmozhi moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Arunmozhi, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) In addition, there appears to be a WP:UPEorWP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 20:30, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings.! Initially, I didnt know how to reply this message. I directly responded at the Talk page of the editor. After going through some of the previous discussions at the Teahouse, I learned that I should have responded at my page only. My interest in music and the position of fan of the subject of the article have influenced my editing of this page, and in fact, made me to focus on particular topics. I admit that I have showed a kind of value. I understand that both are against the neutrality policies of Wikipedia. I apologize for committing this mistake. Except these, I dont have any other conflict of interests in relation to my editing. I am thankful for this warning and remain grateful for any advice. I am trying to understand the basic policies and the core values of Wikipedia that govern the roles and behaviors of editors. I am also widening my focus areas of interests to learn and read more before editing any page. I will be more cautious in the future. I have revised the draft from a neutral point of view, and cited few more sources. I request you to comment on this. Thank you for the guidance.Thirukannan (talk) 06:40, 26 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Women in Red[edit]

Hi there, Thirukannan, and welcome to Women in Red. It's good to see you intend to help us improve our coverage of women. If you have not already done so, before you create your next biography you may find it useful to look through our Ten Simple Rules. You will no doubt be able to find women deserving articles in your areas of interest by looking through our Redlist index. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 10:50, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It really helps a lot.! Thank you so much for the guidance and the support.! Thirukannan (talk) 11:32, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Greetings.
I have completed 100 biographies in WiR, though it is very little considering the enormous task ahead. But I want to take this opportunity to thank you Ipigott and all other editors for their valuable support and guidance in correcting my mistakes, and helping my edits. With warm regards & regards, Thirukannan (talk) 10:14, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
A hundred new articles in 15 months is quite an achievement, particularly as most of them are Start class or higher. Some of those in Start class could be raised to C class if you added references, including at least one for each paragraph. Don't be afraid to use the same source multiple times if it covers the information you have included. I'm glad you've extended your interest to cover women from various countries outside India. Keep up the good work and let me know if you need any assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 11:05, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

    Adoption[edit]

Seeing as you seem to be decently experienced I was wondering if requesting adoption is still necessary for you. SkyTheWolf (Talk) 15:01, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for the message. I am just eager to learn more about this wonderful project from other editors, and want to share their valuable experiences. I feel a sense of responsibility to contribute, from my part, little credible contents from reliable sources for this 'largest source of knowledge'. Such a process gives me an opportunity to learn different subjects, and broadens my understanding and knowledge. I always follow the discussions at 'Teahouse' and 'Helpdesk'. I feel happy to join thousands of editors, who collectively work for this project. Thirukannan (talk) 09:16, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Important Notice[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in discussions about infoboxes and to edits adding, deleting, collapsing, or removing verifiable information from infoboxes. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

    Infoboxes[edit]

    Further to Tim riley's comments:

The Manual of Style says: "Whether to include an infobox ... is determined through discussion and consensus among the editors at each individual article." While sports and politician bios can benefit from infoboxes, most articles in liberal arts fields do not. See arbitration report: "Infoboxes may be particularly unsuited to liberal arts fields when they repeat information already available in the lead section of the article, are misleading or oversimplify the topic for the reader". I disagree with including an infobox in most articles because: (1) The box would emphasize unimportant factoids stripped of context and lacking nuance, in competition with the WP:LEAD section, which emphasizes and contextualizes the most important facts. (2) Since the most important points in the article are already discussed in a good Lead section, or adequately discussed in the body of the article, the box would be redundant. (3) It would take up valuable space at the top of the article and hamper the layout and impact of the Lead. (4) Frequent errors creep into infoboxes, as updates are made to the articles but not reflected in the redundant info in the box, and they tend to draw vandalism, fancruft and repeated arguments among editors about what to include. (5) The boilerplate infobox templates create a block of code at the top of the edit screen that discourages new editors from editing the article. (6) It would discourage readers from reading the text of the article. (7) IBs distract editors from focusing on the content of the article. Instead of improving the article, they spend time working on this repetitive feature and its coding and formatting. See also WP:DISINFOBOX. All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:35, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Greetings.!
Thank you so much for the information update from the policy guidelines and Arbitration report on the use of "Infoboxes" in biographies. This will be a great help for me in guiding my edits, and will provide a better learning experience.! These guidelines give a new perspective on the inclusion of "infoboxes" in Articles. Grateful for your guidance and the valuable time.! Kind regards, Thirukannan (talk) 14:07, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Date Formats[edit]

Hello, please stop mass-changing date formats; this is disruptive, so I have undone many of your most recent edits. Date formats should only be changed when an article has strong national ties to an *English*-speaking country (i.e. one where English is an official language); for example, Bernhard Romberg, one of the people whose articles you edited, is German so has no strong national ties in this case. Mass changes should be done by experienced editors who have thoroughly read the relevant guidelines. Your change to British date formats was completely inappropriate at the article about Maralin Niska, who was American. Also, in this edit, you said you were copy editing, but you used a hyphen rather than an en dash for a date range. Graham87 13:07, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Greetings.!
Thank you for your message. At the outset, I never had any intention to make disruptive edits. I always want to make constructive edits which positively contribute for the project. I am less experienced to have a better understanding of the national ties and languages that have link with "use of date format’’. I will try to familiarize myself on this, and always feel happy to learn from the experienced editors like you.
My recent edits on “date formats” which you subsequently reverted most of them are based on the following assumption. In Robert Soblen, a tag was placed to use DMY format. Accordingly I edited this Article and few others which had similar tag. Some Articles have two date formats, which I edited to make it uniform. For example, the Article on Maria Anna Mozart, the lead section has DMY format and the “Infobox person” has MDY format. So many Articles have similar kinds of ‘date formats’. I carefully checked before editing. Also the “Infobox person” in the biography of Franz Hünten, the “born” date has MDY format and the “died” date has DMY format. I edited this with DMY format to make it uniform.
I apologize if you feel that my recent edits are in the nature of disruptive. I will rectify in the future. Kindly guide me.
Thank you for your valuable time. Thirukannan (talk) 07:33, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations, and thank you for helping expand the scope of Wikipedia! We hope you will continue making quality contributions.

The article has been assessed as Start-Class, which is recorded on its talk page. Most new articles start out as Stub-Class or Start-Class and then attain higher grades as they develop over time. You may like to take a look at the grading scheme to see how you can improve the article.

Information icon Hi Thirukannan! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at List of people from Guelph that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the checking out my bios. It's always nice to hear from you.

I would be happy to help you with your Wiki entries anytime. I am glad to see how hard you are working at this and I want to encourage you to keep at it. As you've seen, the process of writing and editing is not easy, especially in the face of criticism, but I'm happy to see that you are persisting. I enjoy it very much myself. One note of advice, check out the English rules for punctuation. For example, English writers don't put multiple symbols together, such as period and exclamation point, after the same phrase; we just use one or the other! That said, you do fine work and if I can help, please let me know. AMM Pittsburgh (talk) 15:23, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

    Translated articles[edit]

Hi there, Thirukannan, and thank you for a considerable number of women's biographies translated from other language versions of Wikipedia. While I see that you have added a translated tag on their talk pages, you have not correctly attributed the articles to the other language version, simply stating "new article" in your first edit comment. In order to avoid copyright problems, it is important to state your are basing your new article on a translation in your first edit comment in accordance with Help:Translation. To avoid further problems, you should edit all your translated articles adding something along the lines of "this articles contains a translation of the (whatever language) article (name of article). I have made an edit along these lines on Maria Szécsi. I hope you will be able to sort this out before someone accuses you of copy violation. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 14:22, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Greetings!
Thank you so much for your valuable guidance. I will do it in the future. But I am not sure how to edit the first comment that I wrote 'mentioning' as new article in all the Articles that I had created before. As you suggested earlier, I included the translation tag in the Talk page of the all the Articles that I had translated from other languages, assuming that it will save copy right issue. For the translated articles from WiR, I am also trying to find out information from other reliable sources. From now onwards I will follow as you advised. Thank you so much for your valuable time in reviewing and copy editing my edits.
