This project is designed to better organize information in articles related to Warhammer 40,000. This page and its subpages contain tools to build, assess, and maintain Warhammer 40,000 related articles. If you would like to help, please add yourself to our list of participants below. Our basic goals for the project are listed directly below but can be summed up in one word: quality.
This project is intended to bring some order, consistency and restraint to the 'legion' of articles that are now on Wikipedia relating to Warhammer 40,000. Hopefully, it should reduce the numbers of articles to a manageable level (through merging), and improve the overall quality of the articles. It should also allow a set of rules to be implemented for the articles that prevent their future decline into a non-encyclopedic state. This is an organizational chart for all Warhammer 40,000 articles. When adding a new article please add it to this chart. This may be used to see logical merge targets and to determine the relative importance of fictional organizations.
This is a listing of the references (complete with templates) that should be used when creating articles. Bear in mind that these mostly establish Verifiability, not Notability. While information added to the encyclopedia should be verified by available sources, the sources on this list are not sufficient to establish notability. Perform searches for reliable independent sources that cover the topic.
Articles which may not meet the inclusion guidelines for Wikipedia may be transwikied to the Warhammer 40k Wikia using the procedure shown below. Once you have completed this, please log this action in the table.
Edit the article in question on Wikipedia and copy the entire source of the page from the edit window. Wikis based on the Mediawiki software should largely share the same markup syntax--Bold will still be '''Bold text''' and so forth. As such, copying text from the article window will result in unformatted text being transiwikied, creating work for the target project. Text copied from the edit window will retain all Mediawiki markups.
Open a new article on the target wiki (Warhammer 40k Wikia) with the chosen name for the copy and paste the source from the Wikipedia Version of the page there.
Use the Wikipedia Page History Statistics Tool to find the five authors who contributed the most to the article. To use the tool, simple copy the entire article name from Wikipedia into the text box and press SEARCH. Note the names of the top five contributors as they will be used in the next step.
Using the correct following template, fill out the fields, and place it at the bottom of the new page on the target wiki:

Save the page on the target wiki, it may require some clean up as well which you can perform now.
Add the article to the appropriate table below, either at the beginning or the end (it doesn't matter as it is sortable). Use the following format:

KillTheToy I've got pretty good knowlage of the fluff for Chaos and the Imperium. I'll probably focus on Chaos, though.
Heatedpete - I'm an editor on the Warhammer 40,000 wiki, as well as here, so if there is any need to help with some of the transwikied articles after they've been copied, I'll be happy to help. Over here, I'll mainly concentrate on the Space Marines and Chaos areas of the articles, as that's my hobby base.
Eralam - I would like to help make more dedicated, specific and truly comprehensive articles on the background of the game and descriptions of vehicles and biographies of special characters and such like! Please message me to help with Vehicles of the Imperium article creation! I am very knowledgeable about the history of the Imperium and the other factions, as well as their social atmospheres and actual in game tactics if that counts for anything (which I suspect will not)
Cypher7850 - As a gamer who has played a majority of the 40k games, I'd be glad to help edit the pages of W40k games.
