    Automatic, Supervised, or Manual: Automatic

    Programming language(s): AutoWikiBrowser

    Source code available: AWB

Function overview:Diffuse category:Conservatism in the United States

Links to relevant discussions (where appropriate): Talk:List_of_American_conservatives#US_Conservatism_Category,_List,_Nav_template, Category_talk:Conservatism_in_the_United_States#US Conservatism Category discussion

    Edit period(s): Run two times

Estimated number of pages affected: 425

    Namespace(s): Category

    If supported by AWB

Exclusion compliant (Yes/No): If supported by AWB

Function details: The Category:Conservatism in the United States has grown to 479 pages. I propsoe to use AWB to diffuse the parent category into two child cats:

    1. Pages in category:Living People will be moved from moved from Category:Conservatism in the United Statestocategory:American conservative people‎
    2. Pages with the text "[[Organizations in" will be moved from moved from Category:Conservatism in the United Statestocategory:Conservative organizations in the United States‎

Essentially, this request is for automatic processing using AWB, no server will be used. I have 1458 AWB edits.– Lionel(talk) 05:03, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Note: my first bot request was an April Fool's joke. – Lionel(talk) 02:25, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Discussion[edit]

At the very least, the bot's user page should be updated to reflect the serious task, rather than the joke. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 03:10, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Good idea. – Lionel(talk) 04:21, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The linked discussion doesn't have much in the way of input (just one other participant), but it seems relatively uncontroversial. My main concern is your sorting mechanism - pages like FireHollywood and Judicial Watch are not in a category starting with "Organizations in..." so they would not be properly sorted, and if you have dead conservatives like Henry Hazlitt they would not be in Category:Living people. How do you plan on accommodating those exceptions? Primefac (talk) 11:49, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Good catch.
If any are missed I could do them by hand. Of course * is a wildcard; probably use regex for that. – Lionel(talk) 11:56, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    @Lionelt: Could we see the regex you plan to use? ƒirefly ( t · c · who? ) 17:48, 1 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No reply from the operator in a very long time. Request Expired. SQLQuery me! 00:12, 8 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
