Nominator's rationale: Unhelpful for navigation to have only one person in here. I've already added them to the people murdered in mexico parent category. Mason (talk) 22:19, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose, this defined and selective category is already a sub-category of Baseball books, and is a valid stand-alone categorization of baseball writing genre. Please notify the baseball wikiproject, thanks. Randy Kryn (talk) 16:08, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It may be too obvious that books about baseball are about Major League teams, if so that would be an argument for merging. However when other books are definitely not related to the Major League, that would be an argument for keeping. If kept, the title should at least be changed to e.g. Category:Books about Major League Baseball teams in order to avoid the impression that they are about the Major League Baseball as a whole, or even published by the Major League Baseball.l Any article that does not fit could be moved to the parent category. Marcocapelle (talk) 22:38, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Marcocapelle, the books in the category are mostly about players and/or the game itself. Not specifically about any team or MLB itself, other than maybe three or four. Most of them are biographies or autobiographies. But, as an avid reader of baseball books, I'd say majority are related to MLB in some way or another. Omnis Scientia (talk) 23:25, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Books is media but not mass media. More importantly I would not dump 44 articles specifically about books in what is almost a container category, while these articles clearly share a more specific characteristic (namely that they are about books). Marcocapelle (talk) 05:38, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PamD, @Namiba, in this case they aren't directly related to MLB or sanctioned by MLB so doing so doesn't make sense. Also, as Marco notes, it is a matter of debate whether books are considered mass media. Omnis Scientia (talk) 08:52, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: This is an absolute failure of DEFINING. None of these games are defined by the fact that a magazine gave them a perfect score. -- ferret (talk) 18:42, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Keep - these awards are a major part of 80s videogame journalism. Per the article on Crash magazine, the awards were considered a big deal by the games industry. Before the internet, they were often a reason for a game's success. There were compilations of "Crash Smashes", and it wasn't unusual for the YS Megagame logo to literally appear on the game's front cover artwork. This just looks like another one of those Amerocentric attempts to wipe out anything not understood in the USA. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.15.214.198 (talk) 20:58, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Those damn Yanks, deleting categories! Ford cars, McDonald's hamburgers and now this! The American cultural hegemony continues unabated! ...You realise that deleting a category isn't deleting an article, right? soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK21:11, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We literally had exactly the same thing with categories about Christmas Number Ones. They all got wiped out. If a game's success isn't defined by sales or by awards, what the fuck is left?
Not sure how you can seriously assert this after multiple editors have voiced their opinion that any similar magazine awards should be deleted, and zero editors have cited it being a UK magazine being from the UK is the problem at hand. You're serving up a counterpoint to an argument no one made to begin with. Sergecross73msg me13:06, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Out of sequence overcat - this is the only category in the "Demolished buildings and structures by city*" which is a neighbourhood of a city. London and New York are each broken out by jurisdictions, not neighbourhoods. *now populated places for some bizarre reason, even though city is more concise, and the category only contains cities. Nominator's rationale: Upmerge for now. There's only one page and a file in this category, which isn't helpful for navigation Mason (talk) 01:25, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
