List of CMLL World Tag Team Champions[edit]

Nominator(s): MPJ-DK (talk) 15:35, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've been here before and I've incorporated everything from before to make the list as ready for FLc as I possibly can. I've also been reading with great interest some old and current discussions on ALT text and especially on redlinks in a FL. As you can see there are currently 5 red links, I've already created one article for the list (La Sombra, created today) and I will create all five of the missing articles over the two weeks that the FLc process (as a minimum) takes. Watch as the redlinks for Pierroth, Jr., Emilio Charles, Jr., Rayo de Jalisco, Jr., Mr. Niebla and Scorpio, Jr. turn blue so that when this (hopefully) passes the FLReview it'll be a true blue list, because I do not see this as an "easy accomplishment" at all. MPJ-DK (talk) 15:35, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And I got four out of five turned blue before the reviews have rolled in. MPJ-DK (talk) 10:05, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Support, all issues resolved. Dabomb87 (talk) 22:39, 28 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • "In early 1993 then CMLL Booker Antonio Peña"-->In early 1993, then–CMLL Booker Antonio Peña
  • "In response CMLL created the CMLL World Tag Team Championship to fill the void." Comma after "response".
  • "On March 3, 1993 Canek and Dr. Wagner, Jr. won a tournament to become the first CMLL World Tag Team champions. "-->On March 3, 1993, Canek and Dr. Wagner, Jr. won a tournament, becoming the first CMLL World Tag Team champions.
  • "It's Sombra and Volador, Jr.s first title reign both as a team and as individuals"-->This is Sombra's and Volador, Jr.'s first title reign both as a team and as individuals
  • "and as individuals, they are the 29th overall champions"-->and as individuals; they are the 29th overall champions
  • "Último Guerrero and Rey Bucanero holds the record for the longest combined reigns of any team, 1,185 days divided over three reigns."-->Último Guerrero and Rey Bucanero hold the record for the longest combined reigns of any team, 1,185 days divided over 3 reigns.
  • "Individually Último Guerrero has held it five times for a total of 1,283 days, which is the longest of any champion." Comma after "Individually". What is "it" referring to? Remove "which is".
  • "held the championship for 7 days, which is the shortest reign of any champion."-->held the championship for seven days, the shortest reign of any champion.
  • "Último Guerrero and Negro Casas are tied for most title reigns with five each, while the teams of Último Guerrero and Rey Bucanero, and Averno and Mephisto are the only teams to win the championship three times."-->Último Guerrero and Negro Casas are tied for most title reigns with five each, while the teams of Último Guerrero and Rey Bucanero, and Averno and Mephisto are the only teams to have won the championship three times.
  • Note 1: Comma should be a semicolon; remove "only". Dabomb87 (talk) 02:27, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sources look good. Dabomb87 (talk) 02:27, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Resolved comments from Truco

General
  • Many prose issues
  • I can't run the dabs or links checker tool at the moment, they are down.
Lead
  • The CMLL World Tag Team Championship (Campeonato Mundial de Parejas CMLL in Spanish) is a professional wrestling Tag team championship promoted by the Mexican Lucha Libre wrestling-based promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) since 1993. -- Tag team doesn't need capitalization.
  • In early 1993 then-CMLL Booker Antonio Peña decided to leave the promotion and start his own professional wrestling promotion Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), when Peña left CMLL he brought a number of wrestlers with him, among them the then reigning Mexican National Tag Team Champions, Misterioso and Volador, leaving CMLL without a Tag Team title. -> In early 1993, then-CMLL Booker Antonio Peña decided to leave and start his own promotion, Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA); when Peña left CMLL, he acquired a number of wrestlers, among them the then-reigning Mexican National Tag Team Champions Misterioso and Volador, which left CMLL without a tag team title.
  • It states that before 1993 it was technically not exclusive to one Mexican promotion and that in 1993 it became AAA exclusive, that it does not explicitly state that it was defended in EMLL/CMLL before 1993 is unfortunate and something that needs to be fixed in that article, but none the less how it was. MPJ-DK (talk) 22:06, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • On March 3, 1993 Canek and Dr. Wagner, Jr. won a tournament, to become the first CMLL World Tag Team Champions. -- Comma after 1993, and remove the comma after tournament.
  • The current Tag Team champions are La Sombra and Volador, Jr. who defeated the team of Averno and Mephisto for the title on January 16, 2009. --> The current champions are La Sombra and Volador, Jr., who defeated the team of Averno and Mephisto for the title on January 16, 2009.
  • El Canek and Dr. Wagner, Jr. holds the record for longest reign as a team, at least 608 days. -- 1)No need to pluralize plural2) in addition it would be best to add the footnote thats in the table here as well. 3)This sounds awkward but the last part needs to be reworded to , at at least 608 days.or, at 608 days at the least.
  • Último Guerrero and Rey Bucanero hold the record for the longest combined reigns of any team, 1,185 days divided over three reigns. -- The comma after team should be changed to a colon.
  • Individually Último Guerrero has held the championship five times for a total of 1,283 days, the longest of any champion. -- Comma after individually
  • The team of Último Guerrero and Dr. Wagner, Jr. held the championship for 7 days, the shortest reign of any champion. -- Since this is about the tag team, champion should be plural.
  • Último Guerrero and Negro Casas are tied for most title reigns with five each, while the teams of Último Guerrero and Rey Bucanero, and Averno and Mephisto are the only teams to have won the championship three times. -- No need for the comma after and
List
  • Why do the notes not sort by the least # of days in the days held column?
  • The key needs to have the column headers in bold
  • I don't understand why you have different alignments, centering the # and days held column doesn't add anything to the table. Why not just left align it like the rest of the table?
  • It has been commented in previous FLs that pure number columns should be centered, to be frank I'm not married to the idea and would be just as happy with left alight to be consistent. If only I could find the comment with the reason why numbers were to be centered. I'd like to know what the general take is on this and then correct this through out all my FLs and FLCs to be consistent. MPJ-DK (talk) 21:41, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • (Team Name if applicable)-->(Tag team name if applicable)
  • defeated Dr. Wagner, Jr. and Satánico in the finals of an Eight-team tournament -- capitalize defeated
  • Hijo del Santo and Negro Casas refuse to accept the championship after winning by disqualification, decision match is held --> Hijo del Santo and Negro Casas refuse to accept the championship after winning by disqualification: a decision match is held. (also link to disqualification)
  • Win the decision match --> Won the decision match
  • The title was held up after a match against Averno and Mephisto ended in a double-disqualification -- link to disqualification
  • As above.
  • Championship vacated after Silver King leaves promotion --> Championship vacated after Silver King leaves CMLL (consistency)
  • Championship vacated after an inclnclusive match against the Headhunters -- 1)Do you mean inconclusive? 2)Who are the Headhunters? (the members?)
  • Yes I do mean inconclusive, I'm sorry I let such an obvious spelling mistake through. I figured since the Headhunters team was listed earlier in the list with it's members it was okay to leave out the very "informative" (A and B) note but I don't mind putting it in. MPJ-DK (talk) 21:41, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Footnotes
  • The reign of Shocker and Mr. Niebla lasted somewhere from 1 day to 293 days; the Último Guerrero/Dr. Wagner, Jr. championship reign has been confirmed as lasting 7 days. -- Confirmed by who/what?--Truco 503 18:59, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Confirmed by sources listed on the page. Guerrero/Wagner had a documented start & end date, Shocker/Niebla does not so it's verifiable that one title reign lasted 7 days, while it's possible that Shocker/Niebla's reign was shorter. MPJ-DK (talk) 21:41, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose – There are some prose issues, but I'm more concerned about the formatting, which could use tightening in several places.

Resolved comments from Giants2008 (17–14) 22:31, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
*Do we have a wrestling glossary article that could be linked for Booker? I think that would be helpful to our general readership.
  • "at 608 days at the least." I don't like the close repetition of "at". How about "at a minimum of 608 days."? Or lead into it with a colon, like in the next sentence.
  • "Individually, Ultimo Guerrero has held the championship five times for a total of 1,283 days, the longest of any champions." Last word should be singular. Was an s placed in the wrong spot in response to one of Truco's comments?
  • "while the teams of Ultimo Guerrero and Rey Bucanero and Averno and Mephisto are the only teams to have won the championship three times." Can a different word be used to replace one of the "teams" in this sentence? Again, this is redundant phrasing.
  • Comma after Bucanero in the photo caption.
  • The date sorting is off. When I sort by most recent, the 1997 vacancy appears on top. When sorting is done by first reign, several dates are not in chronological order.
  • Many? When I checked again I only had problems with the rogue 1997 sorting odd, which I fixed but I can't see a sorting problem otherwise? Can you please tell me what specific dates are not sorting right?
  • Notes in table: Periods should either consistently be included or not. Right now, there are variances in similar notes.
  • "Championship vacated after Silver King leaves CMLL". "leaves" → "left" for past tense. A couple other notes could do with similar fixes.
  • Also watch the capitalization in the notes. I see "16-Team tournament" and a few "Eight-team tournament"s. "Team" and "eight" should be lower-case, I would imagine.
  • Link formatting is showing up in entry 11.
  • Team reigns by length table: Sorting by most days isn't working, though it's fine the other way.
  • Individual reigns table: Ultimo Guerrero doesn't seem to be in proper alphabetical order.
  • Reference 9 should be formatted like the other SuperLuchas citations, with the magazine's name in italics.

Giants2008 (17–14) 22:29, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The magazine in the title could be removed, although I don't consider it crucial and would prefer to see sorting fixes first. Giants2008 (17–14) 22:31, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well they are the publisher of the website, it's their online news outlet so I'd say it's proper to keep it. I've checked out the sorting and fixed what was wrong, I'm confused about you seeing the date sorting being so off though.  MPJ-DK  (No Drama) Talk  05:38, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Support – Although the sorting proved difficult to fix, that and the other comments have been taken care of, so I'm happy to switch from oppose. Do be sure to double-check the sorting in future nominations, though. Giants2008 (17–14) 21:17, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
