Themba Shibase (b. 1980) is a South African artist who works mostly in two-dimensional media, especially paint, drawing, and collage. Ideas of identity, political context, and ancestral history are all major themes in his work.[1] Having lived most of his life in Durban, Shibase is particularly interested in the role of race and power in political identity, especially in Africa where colonization has drastically shaped what it means to be a leader.[2]
