Welcome to the WikiProject Invention assessment page.

The ratings are performed within the {{WikiProject Invention}} project banner, which places articles in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:Invention articles by quality. This also serves as an automatically-generated worklist for the project: see: (Index · Statistics · Log).

Instructions

[edit]

An article's assessment is generated from the class and importance parameters in the {{WikiProject Invention}} project banner on its talk page:

{{WikiProject Invention
|class=
|attention=
|collaboration-candidate=
|past-collaboration=
|peer-review=
|old-peer-review=
|needs-infobox=
}}

The following values may be used for the class parameter:

Articles for which a valid class is not provided are listed in Category:Unassessed Invention articles. The class should be assigned according to the quality scale below.

Quality scale

[edit]

This WikiProject uses the Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment standard quality scale.

  • Importance scale

    [edit]
    Label Criteria Examples
Top Core, highly notable topics about Invention and invention-related topics. This may also include invention topics that have or had an established global presence with wide distribution. Invention
High Topics that are very notable within the field of Invention, and well-known outside of it, and can be reasonably expected to be included in any print encyclopedia. This may also include invention topics that have or had widespread distribution on multiple continents.
Mid Topics that are reasonably notable without necessarily being famous or very notable outside of the field. This may also include invention topics that have or had distribution on a national level or distribution in multiple countries.
Low Topics of mostly specialized interest or those that are only included for complete coverage or as examples of a higher-level topic; peripheral or trivial invention-related topics. Also encompasses topics about generally lesser-known invention topics, and may include those that have or had local, regional or statewide distribution.
NA Subject importance is not applicable. Generally applies to non-article pages such as redirects, categories, templates, etc. Category:Inventions
??? Subject importance has not yet been assessed.
    1. ^ For example, this image of the Battle of Normandy is grainy, but very few pictures of that event exist. However, where quite a number of pictures exist, for instance, the moon landing, FPC attempts to select the best of the ones produced.
  • ^ An image has more encyclopedic value (often abbreviated to "EV" or "enc" in discussions) if it contributes strongly to a single article, rather than contributing weakly to many. Adding an image to numerous articles to gain EV is counterproductive and may antagonize both FPC reviewers and article editors.
  • ^ While effects such as black and white, sepia, oversaturation, and abnormal angles may be visually pleasing, they often detract from the accurate depiction of the subject.
