Completed help requests

Jargon[edit]

Many music articles need to be made more clear to the lay reader (see:Wikipedia:Explain jargon and Wikipedia:Guide to writing better articles#Think of the reader).

These include music, interval (music), and scale (music).

Needing pictures[edit]

By topic[edit]

Music History[edit]

Bands[edit]

Musicians[edit]

Opera[edit]

Alright, his birthdate has been fixed per grove, I removed a broken external link from Sopranist (which he wasn't). Giambattista is just a common contraction of his given names, so I've left that alone. I think that's all. Makemi 00:19, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Genres[edit]

None of the bands listed in the lede as the main proponents have any article, reference or bio referring to them as dream pop. CaptainScreebo Parley! 19:53, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Music Man (song)[edit]

This has the potential to be a very useful article, if only any information on its origins can be supplied. Even the identity of the recording would be a major step. Matthew Platts 02:22, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

List of best selling music artists[edit]

Sounds like a fantastic idea, but large omissions and in most instances no sources have made the information appear very innacurate. Peter S. 10:41, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Music of the United States[edit]

Article is well written, heavily sourced, much too long, and incomplete. Organization is incoherent. Says more about Klezmer than Jazz. This has the makings of a featured article that went astray. Part of the Arts of the United States series. Durova 19:44, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Italian popular music[edit]

Article lacks coherence and import. The sections vary considerably in content and focus, with some amounting to little more than lists. Someone with a broad understanding of modern Italian music, including its influences, could really help this one along. Vineviz 15:08, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Musical Notation[edit]

What is there is good, but the article is eurocentric. Musical notations from other cultures should be covered. Nannus 18:25, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Harp, Lyre, Flute, Drum[edit]

Eurocentric. Nannus 18:25, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Milton Preves (Violist)[edit]

Lacking enough source information, was only able to build up a basic bio of his life from a obituatry in the Chicago Sun-Times from 2000. Internet sources are very minimal, so other alternate source will have to be found with more information. Also, I was unable to find anything on his birth date, though in the obituary, his exact death is mentioned. Compuguy1088 19:33, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Singing[edit]

Short, not detailed, no pictures, uninteresting, needs cleanup. Tom Stringham 00:24, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rhythmic mode[edit]

For over one year now, Rhythmic mode has required someone who knows something about music to take a looks at it. Hyacinth has presented specifications of what is required on the article's talk page. It would be cool if someone could head over there and help out.--Commander Keane 21:23, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request made for original author (User:Antandrus) to help research needed information. MarkBuckles (talk) 05:33, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Arioso[edit]

I've translated Arioso from fr:Arioso. Being not a specialist in music, I thought I'd bring it to your attention, to see if it makes any sense at all! --Wonderfool 10:29, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs considerable attention. It makes some sense, but is very incomplete, and in some instances inaccurate. The French article as of today's date is certainly somewhat improved from the version translated two years ago - a new translation would be a good starting point. Vicar98230 (talk) 18:45, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Music and Mathematics[edit]

This article really needs to be expanded on for what is a huge topic. Madder 13:52, 18 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Music festival[edit]

Read it and weep. Almost non-existent article, I've heard they are quite popular. meltBanana 01:04, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Embouchure[edit]

Not referenced, and past versions have received complaints from professors and students in the field. -- Zanimum 17:27, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article mentions Reinhardt and Farkas. Both of these people have written books on the subject of embouchure, and permission to cite these texts could probably be easily attained. Another great reference is David Hickman's "Trumpet Pedagogy". This book retails for about $44. Being a trombonist, I would also recommend Ed Kleinhammer, Reginald Fink, and the Alessi/Bowman edition of the Arban Method. --Mdwilber (talk) 19:13, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sound production and choice of equipment (mouthpiece) is highly dependent on mouthpiece placement. What I mean is that a player with a 70/30 upper/lower embouchure is going to be able to play lower more easily, while the other way around enables the player to play higher more easily. For this reason, this fact should be given a greater amount of emphasis. --Mdwilber (talk) 19:23, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Music in Berlin[edit]

Berlin was and is an import musical center. Please help building this article from scratch! Matthias Röder 18:18, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

King Crimson[edit]

I am currently trying to get this to GA status and eventually featured article status, but I am having major problems with the section on the band's music and its themes, after having done major work on the history section. Any help would be appreciated.-h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 17:17, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tim Nordwind & Dan Konopka[edit]

These articles are stubs right now and I want to work on them but don't seem able to find any extra info. on these musicians on the net. Any help will be appreciated. Rosa 19:58, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Carrie Underwood discography[edit]

This article failed the WP:FLC due to the ongoing dispute of the format of the article. Please, we need to resolve this dispute ASAP, and the only to do it is by voting. Voting is occurring at the talk page. It would be nice to have your opinions on this. We need to have scope and opinion from other non-Carrie Underwood fans who can provide useful criticisms. Please contribute! Cheers. σмgнgσмg(talk) 08:58, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Valeriya[edit]

Smacks of a promotional piece with inflated claims ("the Madonna of Russia"?). Could use some help on this, esp. from anyone conversant in the language; I've posted a similar request at WP:RUSSIA. I want to assume good faith but I've had little luck with Google; hopefully someone can help prove my instincts wrong this once. —Hello, Control Hello, Tony 16:32, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Susan Hurley (composer)‎[edit]

Could somebody please take a look at Susan Hurley (composer)‎? I am in a bit of an edit war with a very stubborn newbie who refuses to follow Wikipedia style formatting. I've never heard of this composer, and I have no opinion as to anything about her, but the article reads like a resume, full of sentence fragments, and the newbie owner of the article is repeatedly attacking me for having the temerity to suggest that his prose is not deathless. Corvus cornixtalk 23:16, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Timeline of musical events[edit]

If this article is in any way useful it should be linked on the music portal.

Though, I don't think in its present state it is useful. It's not neutral. It should either be a mere link list of articles on the individual years in music or - if some events are pointed out there- someone should make sure that only really significant events are mentioned, not the birth of some musicians or the release of some albums. At least, if people think some event is important enough to be mentioned there they should make clear why. Could someone from the music project please have a look at this?--Sylvia Anna (talk) 21:56, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sofia Rotaru earns $100,000,000 a year?[edit]

The article on Sofia Rotaru features a claim of her having declared an income of $100 millions for 2007. This would make her the highest earning solo performer in the world in that year, compared to e.g. Madonna earnign 37 . The claim is based on a synthesis of two unlinked claims by the Deputy Chairman of the State Tax Administration of Ukraine. The annual incomes of similar Post-Soviet entertainers did not exceeded $9 millions (Alla Pugacheva, Filipp Kirkorov, Maxim Galkin). See all the evidence on Talk:Sofia Rotaru. --Jaan Pärn (talk) 12:38, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The above mentioned problem is just one example out of many. The article features more outrageous claims (including Rotaru being the first ever rapper in the 1970s), weasel words (Rotaru is considered a Pop Queen etc) and unencyclopaedic content (info about her impersonators, friends etc). All of the issues have been raised on the respective talk page accompanied by a nasty edit war resulting in every possible improvement reverted by a raving fan of Rotaru. A 3O process was initiated which failed completely, mostly, because it is solely a content issue. The article in its current shape is a parody of what a wikiarticle on a musician should be and therefore in bad need of attention. --Jaan Pärn (talk) 13:48, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Concert is an unreferenced shambles[edit]

What ought to be a fundamental topic for this project is a disaster of an article. It needs a complete rewrite. Volunteers needed. LeadSongDog come howl 04:30, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gravikord[edit]

Needs help to establish notability and verify information in the article. We've found almost no online sources about the instrument. --Ronz (talk) 02:57, 6 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Song[edit]

Need someone more familiar with the subject to please visit Talk:Song#Edit_dispute and see if perhaps a third party can comment and help clarify the issue of whether or not a song must have words (as opposed to an instrumental). - SudoGhost (talk) 00:26, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

MTV O Music Awards[edit]

MTV just released the OMAs, and it needs serious help. - Booyahhayoob (talk) 00:06, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Victor Talking Machine Company[edit]

Someone is inserting wrong info regarding the Victor Talking Machine Company. A new unrelated entity calling itself the Victor Talking Machine Company was formed last year and a problem editor keeps treating the two companies as one and the same. Please monitor the Victor Talking Machine article and revert erroneous postings. Thank you. Steelbeard1 (talk) 22:30, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

I write article Dare Straits Tour and I create stubs on redlinks and in discussion there was a question on sources. I lean against soundly worked site, on it is much posters and tickets. The opponent doubts reliability, but it is not enough its arguments to overpersuade me. This question somewhere was discussed?--Andrey! 09:22, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Norman Bailey (musician)[edit]

Hello, my friends: A group of us are working on clearing the backlog at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Articles_lacking_sources_from_October_2006. The article in the above header has been without sources for the past four years and might be removed if none are added. I wonder if you can help find one or two good references. While you are at it, can you check on this gentleman's Wp:Notability? Sincerely, and all the best to you, GeorgeLouis (talk) 06:58, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Experimental rock[edit]

Hello,

an editor deleted most of the article on experimental rock [2]. As he says on the talk page, he aims to rewrite it, and could find three sources, including Allmusic and a book on the band Yes. 7 months later, his version doesn't include a single reference to most of the important developments, including psychedelia, post-punk and industrial, but gives major weight to something called "post-progressive". The version of the article from February was mostly unsourced, but comparatively long and detailed and looked competent enough. I suggested improving on it instead of writing from scratch, but the editor didn't express his will to cooperate, saying only that I should "go for it". I don't have enough time to see to all this, so I decided to notify you of this issue. Chilton (talk) 12:06, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Chilton: In response to this comment: "I suggested improving on it instead of writing from scratch, but the editor didn't express his will to cooperate, saying only that I should "go for it". I don't have enough time to see to all this ...", please read WP:BURDEN:
All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and is satisfied by providing a citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution.
By "go for it", I mean you are welcome to provide citations – if you can find them. I have tried looking for sources that directly support most of the claims from the original article. I have not been successful.
--Ilovetopaint (talk) 15:37, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I restored some of the material with sources, any further help would be appreciated. Chilton (talk) 16:23, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
