Welcome all[edit]

Welcome to WikiProject Philosophy. A WikiProject is a group of pages in the "Wikipedia" article namespace which are devoted to the management of a specific topic or family of topics within Wikipedia; and, simultaneously, a group of editors who use those pages to collaborate on encyclopedic work. It is not a place to write encyclopedia articles directly, but a resource to help coordinate and organize the writing and editing of those articles. This group focuses on articles in the broad field of Philosophy.

Getting started[edit]

There are a few things you can do right now to get started helping the project.
  • Add {{User WP Philosophy}} to your user page. It will automatically add you to Category:WikiProject Philosophy participants. You may also choose to place the Philosophy navigation banner on your user page as well by adding {{Philosophy/Nav}}.
  • Join one or more task forces and repeat the preceding steps for each.

Scope and goals[edit]

The scope of WikiProject Philosophy is all articles related to the academic field of philosophy.

The overarching goal of WikiProject Philosophy is to find and identify all the notable ideas, people, and literature in the field of philosophy, formulate high quality articles about them, and make them available to the world. Toward this end, our specific goals are to

... improve the quality and range of Wikipedia articles on philosophical topics. We shall do this by

  • ... assessing articles consistent with guidelines on the assessment page.

... provide a framework for consistency in appearance and navigation within the project's subject. We shall do this by

... build a community of contributors. We shall do this by

  • recruiting new members,
  • recognizing and appreciating excellent contributors with the Star of Sophia

A list of articles needing cleanup associated with this project is available. See also the tool's wiki page and the index of WikiProjects.
