< Wikipedia:WikiProject Qatar

Welcome to the assessment department of the WikiProject Qatar! This department focuses on assessing the quality of Wikipedia's articles related to Qatar. The article ratings are used within the project itself to aid in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work.

The ratings are done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WikiProject Qatar}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in the appropriate sub-categories of Category:Qatar articles by quality and Category:Qatar articles by importance.

Frequently asked rated

[edit]
How can I get my article asked
As a member of the WikiProject Qatar, you can do it yourself. If you're unsure, list it in the section for assessment requests below.
Who can assess articles?
Any member of the WikiProject Qatar is free to add—or change—the rating of an article.
Why didn't the reviewer leave any comments?
Unfortunately, due to the volume of articles that need to be assessed, we are unable to leave detailed comments in most cases. If you have particular questions, you might ask the person who assessed the article; they will usually be happy to provide you with their reasoning.
Where can I get more comments about my article?
Contact (to be determined) who will handle it or assign the issue to someone.
What if I do not agree with a rating?
Relist it as a request or contact (to be determined) who will handle it or assign the issue to someone.
Aren't the ratings subjective?
Yes, they are (see, in particular, the disclaimers on the importance scale), but it's the best system we've been able to devise; if you have a better idea, please don't hesitate to let us know!

If you have any other questions not listed here, please feel free to ask them on the discussion page for this department, or to contact (to be determined) directly.

Quality assessments

[edit]

An article's quality assessment is generated from the class parameter in the {{WikiProject Qatar}} project banner on its talk page: {{WikiProject Qatar|class=???}}

The following values may be used for the class parameter to describe the quality of the article (see Wikipedia:Content assessment for assessment criteria):

FA (for featured articles only; adds articles to Category:FA-Class Qatar articles)  FA
A (adds articles to Category:A-Class Qatar articles)  A
GA (for good articles only; adds articles to Category:GA-Class Qatar articles)  GA
B (adds articles to Category:B-Class Qatar articles) B
C (adds articles to Category:C-Class Qatar articles) C
Start (adds articles to Category:Start-Class Qatar articles) Start
Stub (adds articles to Category:Stub-Class Qatar articles) Stub
FL (for featured lists only; adds articles to Category:FL-Class Qatar articles)  FL
List (adds articles to Category:List-Class Qatar articles) List

For non-standard grades and non-mainspace content, the following values may be used for the class parameter:

Category (for categories; adds pages to Category:Category-Class Qatar articles) Category
Disambig (for disambiguation pages; adds pages to Category:Disambig-Class Qatar articles) Disambig
Draft (for drafts; adds pages to Category:Draft-Class Qatar articles) Draft
File (for files and timed text; adds pages to Category:File-Class Qatar articles) File
Portal (for portal pages; adds pages to Category:Portal-Class Qatar articles) Portal
Project (for project pages; adds pages to Category:Project-Class Qatar articles) Project
Redirect (for redirect pages; adds pages to Category:Redirect-Class Qatar articles) Redirect
Template (for templates and modules; adds pages to Category:Template-Class Qatar articles) Template
NA (for any other pages where assessment is unnecessary; adds pages to Category:NA-Class Qatar articles) NA
??? (articles for which a valid class has not yet been provided are listed in Category:Unassessed Qatar articles) ???

Importance assessments

[edit]

The following values may be used for the importance parameter:

Top
High
Mid
Low

The parameter is not used if an article's class is set to NA, and may be omitted in those cases. The importance should be assigned according to the importance scale below.

Quality scale

[edit]

For the quality scale please use the Category:Qatar articles by quality page.

Importance scale

[edit]

For the Importance scale use the Category:Qatar articles by importance

The criteria used for rating article importance are not meant to be an absolute or canonical view of how significant the topic is. Rather, they attempt to gauge the probability of the average reader of Wikipedia needing to look up the topic (and thus the immediate need to have a suitably well-written article on it). Thus, subjects with greater popular notability may be rated higher than topics which are arguably more "important" but which are of interest primarily to students of military history. Importance does not equate to quality; a featured article could rate 'mid' on importance.

Note that general notability need not be from the perspective of editor demographics; generally notable topics should be rated similarly regardless of the country or region in which they hold said notability. Thus, topics which may seem obscure to a Western audience—but which are of high notability in other places—should still be highly rated.

Requesting an assessment

[edit]

It is vital that people not take these assessments personally. It is understood that we all have different priorities and different opinions about what makes a perfect article. It is proposed that coordinator who performs a complete assessment on each page on that list every three months. If you contribute a lot of content to an article you may request an independent assessment.

For new articles please add this template
