The taskforce was established after suggestions on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Wikify for untagging articles that do not need wikification. Do note that some articles need copyright violation and redundancy checking.
The idea is to run through the list of articles needing wikification and check for copyvios and redundancy in articles that follow the MoS in terms of formatting. The taskforce aims to significantly reduce the time wasted by WP:WWF members (and others) when wikifying, and clarify details of the backlog.
What you can do:
Select a section from the list below and add an entry using the designated format, noting that you intend to take care of that section. The backlog is split into manageable chunks to simplify the task, every bit helps.
Help draw up a basic set of guidelines for checking copyvios and redundancy
Check each article quickly for general formatting, including the following:
Article title (or keywords very similar) are bolded and present in the initial paragraph
Sections are present where needed, but sections do not start at the beginning of the article
Lists use the standard asterisk format, use hash/sharp key (#, for numbered lists) sparingly
Then check for copyvios, using methods such as the following:
Take a phrase or a set of words (generally four or more), enclose it in double quotes (" [phrase] "), append '-wikipedia -dictionary -encyclopedia' and run a google search on the result.
Look for give away phrases like 'the site will employ' when no 'site' is referred to
Look for html tags not supported or TM / (r) / (c) symbols
Also check for redundancy, taking relevant keywords from the article, or even searching for the article name using Wikipedia search. You may want to use Google to search Wikipedia; to do this, append 'site:en.wikipedia.org' to your search terms.
Feel free to continue dividing these sections up. They are merely here as a guideline; you can split them up and work on one of the resulting sections. This list is not complete too - please look through the backlog list and add sections
Please list the section you are working on, under the section for the relevant month articles were tagged in, using something similar to the following format:
* Section (approx number of articles [optional]) - ~~~~
B (about 200) I just realized I've been working on this section off and on all day without noting it here, it probably started around 200, maybe 180 now. Metros232 22:23, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I (60 starting light) - Didius 22:12, 8 September 2006 (UTC) (I've just checked, and those left definitely need wikifying -Ladybirdintheuk 10:53, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
