Welcome to WikiProject Women in Red (WiR)!
Our objective is to turn red links into blue ones. Our project's scope is women's representation on all language Wikipedias (biographies, women's works, women's issues, broadly construed). Did you know that, according to Humaniki, only 19.86% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women? Not impressed? Content gender gap is a form of systemic bias, and this is what WiR addresses. We invite you to participate, whenever you like, in whatever way suits you and your schedule. Editors of all genders are equally and warmly welcome at Women in Red!

In August 2022 Women in Red is focusing on women performers, with special emphasis on comedians. This stems from our collaboration with Wikimedia UK and the UK branch of CARE International in the hope that we can address areas of common interest over the next few months. The redlinks below show there is considerable scope for covering comedians, an important new target for us. We hope both inexperienced and seasoned editors will join us in creating biographies and other articles about women in various countries, as well as their achievements, works, organizations, and awards. This virtual editathon allows enthusiasts from around the globe to participate.

You are of course also welcome to add articles on any other notable women, for example under our #1day1woman priority.

The main goals of the event are:

What else?

Redlists (lists of redlinked articles to be created)[edit]

We have red-link lists on women from relevant fields and countries, which can be found in the WiR Redlink index. A selection of those which might be most useful for this priority is listed below. However do feel free to find your own but beware of notability (means "significant roles in notable films, TV, stage performances... or unique... contributions to entertainment").

Good idea to ask an existing Wikipedian (on-line?) to check this before you invest time in creating a new article that may not be published.

Wikidata-based redlist[edit]

Possibly notable?[edit]

Notable - probably?[edit]

C and D is our alphabet run this month[edit]

Running concurrently to this is the Alphabet Run | C to D writing contest. Please feel free to list relevant creations in both places! Some suggestions below (or sort other redlists into alphabetic order)
