Has anyone ever given themselves a barnstar?[edit]
Just curious. Not that I'm going to do it. JM (talk) 08:42, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I’ve seen it, and I think it’s really pathetic. I’m annoyed by it so much that I would propose a guideline to prevent such a thing, but such a proposal would be considered equally pathetic and pointless. There’s no harm in awarding yourself but the feeling is not truly satisfying. Jerium (talk) 09:28, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not a barnstar, but I once gave myself a Silver Wiki after I organized a contest on Wikimedia Commons but was one of only two or three participants. Not so much an award as it is a reminder why I've never organized a Commons contest since. - ZLEAT\C 15:21, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In the end, people just want to be recognized and appreciated for the their efforts, no matter how irrelevant another individual might perceive it to be. Jerium (talk) 20:06, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Chris troutman Go ahead, there's no rules on how and why on awarding someone. Plus, the editor was willing to put in the effort. Jerium (talk) 21:32, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
JustAnotherUndertaleFrantic I have thought of making two separate barnstars for fruits and vegetables. I'll probably make those at a later time though. As for the double barnstar, a more distinguishable criteria would need to be applied if you wanted it to be included @WP:BARN. Jerium (talk) 14:39, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
what about for the double barnstar:
A barnstar for users who work on lists ?
or
A barnstar for users who work on series-related articles (book, movie, album, etc.) ?
The Appalachia Barnstar may be awarded to editors who've made significant contributions to Appalachia-related articles.
The barnstar will be hosted at Wikipedia:WikiProject Appalachia. The design purposefully does not use the base barnstar design as a reflection of Appalachia's regional barnstar variant (the quilt star). Dionysius Millertalk 13:10, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dionysius Miller The design of a barnstar must conform with WP:B2G guidelines, however, there are no guidelines preventing you from hosting your own design at another WikiProject (such as WikiProject Appalachia), so no one here is preventing you from doing so. Only beer is represented of the alcoholic drinks. I thought wine should be there, too, as it's the second oldest and/or most popular (not sure which) and together basically cover the vast majority of tastes. (Among those who do, I mean.) ——Serial Number 54129 13:57, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
