< Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration | Alienus

"Alienus banned 1) For edit warring, personal attacks, and incorrigibility, Alienus is banned from editing Wikipedia for one year."

Let the record clearly show that I have nothing whatsoever to gain from this statement. I've virtually retired from Wikipedia since approximately one month ago. I am being attacked in an ArbCom case between other editors, and haven't bothered even to defend myself. I hardly ever agree with Alienus. I reported him for 3RR months ago, and his block was extended for personally attacking me.

Nevertheless, as one who's followed his talk page ever since those days - and seen the low points like the foreskin edit summary - I am compelled to observe that Alienus has markedly improved. He is *not* incorrigable, nor is he any longer a font of personal attacks, or an "edit warrior" any more than (rightly or wrongly) your average Wikipedia editor who has reverts and user them - often, it'd seem, quite rightly.

Lately, he seems to have been blocked a whole lot for, charitably put, insubstantial violations of policy. It appears that he's been held to a standard that dozens of perfectly respectable editors I could name off the top of my head do not meet, and it seems crazy to me that he'd be banned now. Perhaps earlier this year, I'd have agreed, and if that period is the basis of this action, I can offer no defense. But if the question is probable future conduct, from my admittedly limited experience I'm inclined to say I've no reason to believe that Alienus poses any threat of substantial disruption.Timothy Usher 10:36, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alienus returns[edit]

According to those who know him better, user:Alienus has returned to editing using two IP addresses, 24.44.189.249 (talk · contribs) and 67.90.197.194 (talk · contribs). However since this case was never completed there is no foul. Can we close this case? -Will Beback 01:56, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like a straightforward case to me:[1], [2].Timothy Usher 02:01, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You should be aware of this diff on his talk page as well: [3] Isopropyl 06:32, 20 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
