Project update: A pre-alpha implementation of APARKS new tabs[edit]

Hey everyone! Who ever is here or around. In my sandbox, User:Adog/sandbox2, I have finally finished a general type-out of some of the rough-rough ideas from here, and here. It took six months right? I did not put in the new UI GoneIn60 created into the sandbox yet, however, you can view that right here. In the sandbox, you can find two new banners, a research guide, a perennial sources list, a start to some new changes to the collaboration tab (maybe the barnstars can be merged or a two-level system), and finally the thing that needs to most scrutinization: a non-official APARKS notability guide. I took most of the ideas from previous discussions, and from my readings on guide after guide. It is mostly aimed at new users, and attempts to solve some problems regarding the limbo system of information inclusion. If anything is wrong, feel free to edit it for anything: grammar, functional idea changes, an idea you wanna throw in there, delete whatever does not feel right. Hopefully these can be rolled out by the end of the year, and what else we have not thought of yet.

Forewarn, it is a lot of information. If you are not into that stuff skip this post, but, I would appreciate your help with our project's future. Adog (TalkCont) 11:26, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking input on a company merger[edit]

Six Flags and Cedar Fair are merging, and the combined company will be called Six Flags. Both articles have extensive histories. Merging both articles would be difficult to do. Need some ideas on how to best proceed once the merger is complete in 2024. Please see Talk:Six Flags#Merge with Cedar Fair. Thank you! --GoneIn60 (talk) 17:27, 2 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I would hold off on a standalone article until the company merge is complete and there are substantial reliable sources. A merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair is unprecedented in contemporary history, and could collapse before any actual merge occurs or is finished. "I would hold off on a standalone article until the company merge is complete"
Correct. This is inherently understood as a precondition before any new article is created or an existing article is renamed. A lot can happen before it's finalized. The linked discussion above (which WP:APARKS members are encouraged to participate in) is more about a preemptive understanding of how something like this is typically handled, and not so much about agreeing on an action that we have to do now. Thanks! --GoneIn60 (talk) 14:11, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Potential issues on Disney and Universal-related pages[edit]

Hello. A few days ago, I just discovered some IPs who have been blanking some content on Disney and Universal theme park-related articles and templates without explanation (some of the edits can be found here, here, here and here). I suspect it's a dynamic IP, but I could be wrong. Any thoughts on what should be done? Thanks. Lord Sjones23 (talk - contributions) 22:18, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It is likely these edits are by Wikipedia:Long-term_abuse/Quebec_Disney_Hoaxer. To add to this the article Storybook Land Canal Boats seems to have quite a large amount of subtle vandalism as per WP:SNEAKY. Otchiman (talk) 15:36, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Image assistance[edit]

Anyone who likes to add images (and has the time) might be interested in adding one at Iron Menace. Thank you. --GoneIn60 (talk) 15:37, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If there is anyone interested in working on the 2024 in amusement parks article, feel free to do so. If there are any amusement park anniversaries that you guys know of, feel free to add it to the article. Same goes for any closures, relocations, refurbishments, or openings. 217.180.201.143 (talk) 17:42, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

T Express retracking[edit]

T Express underwent a retracking a few months or so ago AFAIK by RMC dubbed "the iron rebirth" and I've been wondering whether to list the coaster as a wooden or hybrid coaster on the article itself. Technically cause the retracking involved steel stuff I think you can probably call it a hybrid but rcdb still calls it a wooden coaster. More info can be found here regarding the whole retracking situation. Sorry I wasn't able to let y'all know about this earlier cause I was on a several month long hiatus from content work as I had end-of-school-year projects and exams to deal with (it's not easy to edit Wikipedia while knowing that you have two essays and a research paper due the next day). (delta • tc) 21:19, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I responded there, but in a nutshell, 380 meters of track being converted to steel means that only about 23 percent of the track was impacted. That's less than half, so there's a good chance RCDB won't reclassify this one. We'll have to wait and see, but for now, I think the primary way to list it in the infobox and opening sentence of the lead is "wood" and "wooden roller coaster", respectfully. We can continue the discussion on that talk page. --GoneIn60 (talk) 23:18, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Cedar Fair no more![edit]

Well the time has come, and the pending merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair is nearly complete. Hard to believe, but it is what it is! I know we had that earlier thread above, but dropping another note here about a move discussion that cropped up in case anyone's interested in commenting. Thanks! --GoneIn60 (talk) 16:02, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
