Although activity is slower than it once was, anyone is welcome to participate in the project.
Remove the |Semi-active parameter from this template if activity resumes or if this tag was changed in error. If almost no activity occurs in this task force, consider replacing this tag with {{WikiProject status|Inactive}}.
This WikiProject has been inactive for quite some time, and it would be nice if it were revived. There are still tons of compositions that don't have their own article. I've read WP:INACTIVEWP, which has some great advice on reviving an inactive WikiProject.
Some things that could be done in this WikiProject:
Create an assessment system
Expand number of members
Create more internal guidelines/to-do lists/etc
Clean up of various composition articles (there are a lot that need attention)
If anyone has anymore ideas or suggestions, it would be great if you put them below. I myself am willing to help contribute and expand this WikiProject. Thanks! ---Tal Brenev (talk) 21:10, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Always glad to help out. From my point of view, the biggest problem I face in writing composition articles is finding free-use audio examples to illustrate the articles. Without these, the articles are lifeless and dull. I have been looking for ages to find free-use recordings of Beethoven opus 132. Any ideas? --Ravpapa (talk) 03:50, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've been thinking about getting back into Wiki for some time. But I'm a little intimidated with all the new rules and regulations. Can anyone point me to a place where I could get up to speed on what's changed since... several years ago? ALTON.ıl03:58, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
For audio samples of the composition article that I created, I put sheet music excerpts of the composition, and created MIDI files to go with it. This may not be the best way, but it is the easiest way to create audio samples. As to the rules and regulations changed, I can't say what's changed over several years, because I haven't been on Wikipedia that long...
Also, if we were to revive this project, what would be the first step? I would try to "recruit" more people, or maybe improve the WikiProject page. Compared to other WikiProject pages, it seems quite unimpressive, and should be expanded. ---Tal Brenev (talk) 15:58, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I would certainly be in favour of reviving this task force if it's parent project were flourishing. Sadly this isn't the case. My suggestion would be to keep all activity at WP:CM in order to attract the attention of potentially interested people. Good luck! Kleinzach06:35, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Revival is a great idea. Here is an article I recently published (but didn't write) from Articles For Creation that would welcome your improvements:
I think that a number of classical musicians contribute to Magnatunes, Jamendo or SoundCloud. Licences vary, so it might be a good idea to try the CC search http://search.creativecommons.org/
I would be delighted to contribute synthetic audio for Australian works, obviously only for composers whose biography is prior 1955. Tradimus (talk) 13:14, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I just finished writing everything I know about this piece. If anyone knows something different, please feel free to edit. --Ravpapa (talk) 07:30, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the "Inactive Status" banner from the Compositions Task Force page because I'm currently contributing to the relevant wiki articles as a member of this group. "Semi-Active" is a better status description, perhaps. TheBawbb (talk) 03:58, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Dear fellow members of this wikiproject,
thanks for helping me in my draft here!
As I am also a member here, I will be happy to receive comments from you!

Checklist when creating new composition articles[edit]
Here is a checklist for things to do when creating a new composition article. Hope it is helpful to others.
Add the article to the composers Navbox, e.g. {{Jean Sibelius}}
