Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.
No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.
However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present. Yes, that is correct. WikiProject Nigeria uses the approach documented at Wikipedia:WikiProject Nigeria/Assessment#Quality scale. That is much the same as the approach at Wikipedia:Content assessment. It seems unlikely that WikiProject Nigeria has special criteria. A biography of a Nigerian would be rated the same quality by WikiProject Nigeria and WikiProject Biography, an article on a river would be rated the same quality by WikiProject Nigeria and WikiProject Rivers, and so on. I have taken the liberty of editing Talk:Enugu to add |class=GAto{{WikiProject banner shell}}. You can see how this looks compared to Talk:Kingdom of Nri. A long way to say I do not think you need to do anything. Aymatth2 (talk) 13:17, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
@Usmanagm:,Quick advice: on Wikipedia, use words like "prestigious" with care, especially when it involves a school that was founded about a one year ago. This does not mean PRU is not a great school, just that Wikipedia will want to see verifiable sources that demonstrate it is of a higher cadre, else it will reek of conflict of interest to objective editors if unfounded. And you barely see such superlative words for schools like Harvard, etc. Wikipedia states things as they are. That being said, I have done a lot of work to improve Nigeria higher institutions articles and I can see Pen Resource University already have a Wikipedia article. I don't really get the suggestions you want, are you looking for ways students and staff of the school will become Wikipedia contributors? Or you want recommendations on how to improve content of the university on Wikipedia?HandsomeBoy (talk) 23:00, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
Request for Draft Review
Hello,
Please I’d love to ask for review as regards an article I created “Emmanuel Iren”
Mevoelo Good article but not yet a notable subject. Probably a case of WP:TOOSOON. If I were to be a reviewer, I won't accept the draft, and move to article space mainly because it falls short of the guidelines for WP:NPEOPLE. And this is not a case of not being familiar with subject or Nigerian topics, I have even worshiped in his church once, he is certainly on the right part to Wikipedia notability, but not yet there. YNaija listing and present independent significant coverage is not strong enough.Who knows you might be lucky and reviewer might accept it. I wouldn't nominate if I see it in article space though.HandsomeBoy (talk) 21:20, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
I agree that the 24 states and Abuja controversy should be mentioned, but there's no rush to doing that since it is still a developing story. HandsomeBoy (talk) 21:23, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
I created a page for the incumbent member representing badagary of lagos, i will love anyone of you to go through the page and check for anything. However, I will need you to help me review the page, in other for the owner to occupy digital presence. Thanks in anticipation! Amalgoni (talk) 22:17, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
@Amalgoni:, as a member of Nigerian house of representatives, Oluwaseun Sesi Whingan is definitely notable. My advice for you is to keep things simple. You can start with a stub article. All those talk of him being a philanthropist should be removed or minimized from the lede. You can have a neutrally-written brief on it in subsections. As for notability, I assure you the subject is notable.HandsomeBoy (talk) 10:34, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
Credibility bot
As this is a highly active WikiProject, I would like to introduce you to Credibility bot. This is a bot that makes it easier to track source usage across articles through automated reports and alerts. We piloted this approach at Wikipedia:Vaccine safety and we want to offer it to any subject area or domain. We need your support to demonstrate demand for this toolkit. If you have a desire for this functionality, or would like to leave other feedback, please endorse the tool or comment at WP:CREDBOT. Thanks! Harej (talk) 17:55, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
Thank you so much Harej, I will go through your project page soon, and give a support vote/comment if I find the proposed feature useful. But one thing, I'd love a direct reply to is - there a times we see a new editor promoting their website by adding links to multiple Wikipedia pages. Usually, I do my reverts by just going to their contribution page. But sometimes they use multiple Wikipedia accounts and it is difficult for me to know the pages (if not on my watchlist) they visit to add spam links. Does your tool have a way of letting me know where such questionable domains are used as references on Wikipedia? I am sure a number of persons associated with this WikiProject will share similar views and have had such experiences. It will be helpful if such as feature was available. HandsomeBoy (talk) 19:51, 7 August 2023 (UTC)
@HandsomeBoy: That's the basic idea, that once a domain is determined to be unreliable, you will be able to track its usage in articles. Although the bot is still under development, being able to define these domains is a development goal. Harej (talk) 17:30, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
The article Amegbu Ogwa has been proposed for deletion as it cites no sources and Wikipedians could not find a source on the internet. If anyone is able to find sources supporting the notability of this village, it would be great if they could add them to the article. Otherwise, the article will likely be deleted tomorrow. Thanks, -- Lenny Marks (talk) 16:34, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
I have reasons to believe "Amegbu Ogwa" is the same as "Amaebu Ogwa". Once this is validated, there are sources that at least mentions the town.HandsomeBoy (talk) 00:41, 15 September 2023 (UTC)
Running from October 1 to 31, 2023, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
Hello, I created a recent article about a businessman and politician Sanusi Bala Turaki who is also a guber aspirant in zamfara state. I have cited all relevance, i need your review and proof-read Agbaballer (talk) 14:05, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
Agbaballer, the article is really scanty. Just being a governorship candidate is not enough to be on Wikipedia. I see you added the SAN page to the "See also" section. Is he a SAN? If being a governorship candidate is presently the most "notable" thing about him, then perhaps you should wait till after elections. If he does become governor, then he will definitely be notable for Wikipedia. Read WP:NPEOPLE.HandsomeBoy (talk) 16:29, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
Re:Entry on the Indigenous People of Biafra
I wish to submit that the article on the Indigenous people of Biafra be reviewed unless the intention is not to educate the public on what full profile of the organisation. This is because this organisation had a deputy leader that resigned. What for instance happened and led to the resignation of the deputy leader? Why for instance the names of the leader, the Spokesperson and/or the Media and publicity secretary be mentioned but not the deputy leader? Is that deliberate or an innocent omission? Mefonna (talk) 12:02, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
Mefonna, please add hyperlinks (from reliable source) to each of your statement so it will be easy for me (or anyone) to assess and contribute to the article. For now, it is your word vs what is in the article.HandsomeBoy (talk) 16:24, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for the references. I will look at them, and if I notice any undue weight I will make the required edits. I just have a lot on my table atm.HandsomeBoy (talk) 18:12, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
