macro social work[edit]

Why isn't there an article on macro social work?

especially given the recent interest in the United States

Social work by country articles[edit]

Do we need separate articles/sub-articles for Social Work in the U.S., Social Work in the U.K., Social Work in Australia, Social Work in Canada, Social Work in New Zealand, etc.? Ursasapien (talk) 10:23, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm doubtful that there are good sources for any social work by country article. The scope of such an article would be similar to the Social work article, including professional associations, history, social status of social workers, dominant theoretical frameworks and practices. However, I think that there is much potential for history of social work by country. The beginnings of such articles can sometimes be found in related articles, eg. Coterie of Social Workers overlaps significantly with a potential article at History of social work in Trinidad and Tobago.

Furthermore, there are already a number of articles on social programs by country under a variety of names:

History of social work in

Social work in

  • Social work in the military
  • History of social welfare in

    Social welfare in

  • Social welfare in Luxembourg
  • Social welfare in Mexico
  • Social care in

  • Social care in Scotland
  • Social care in Wales
  • Social care in the United Kingdom
  • Social programs in

  • Social programs in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Social programs in the United States
  • Social welfare programmes in

    Social programmes in

    Welfare state in

  • Welfare state in the United Kingdom
  • Welfare in

  • Welfare in California
  • Welfare in China
  • Welfare in Cyprus
  • Welfare in Finland
  • Welfare in Israel
  • Welfare in Japan
  • Welfare in New York
  • Welfare in New Zealand
  • Welfare in Peru
  • Welfare in Poland
  • Welfare in Puerto Rico
  • Welfare in Romania
  • Welfare in South Korea
  • Welfare in Sri Lanka
  • Welfare in Sweden
  • Others

I think I might create a template linking these articles together. Standardizing terminology among these articles would be a big project requiring careful thought about nuances of terms and attention to regionally preferred language. Frankly, it's unlikely to happen any time soon. Daask (talk) 17:16, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

    social work stubs[edit]

Hi, I'm not particularly involved in social work but am a regular over at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting and have really struggled to find a relevant sorted stub type for a residential home for abused kids. I found {{socialwork-stub}}, but only by starting at Barnardos and going up and down the categories. The stubtype doesn't seem (to me) to be listed in the hierarchy at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/List of stubs, which might explain why not many articles are being tagged with it. I've added it now to the "Miscellaneous" category, between Philosophy and Standardisation (see what they mean by "miscellaneous"!), but perhaps there needs to be a better place in that tree. The category page Category:Social work stubs doesn't list any broader stub categories as its parents, just Category:Social work and Category:Stub categories. Project review: cleanup and reframe[edit]

Hi there, just noticing nothing has been really been updated on this page for years. It seems to me the project would benefit from consolidating - if it is ever to attract any new members - and promoting engagement.

So I am going to be bold make some changes which of course others can undo:

    1. from 'How you can help' I will remove "1. Locate pages that need attention, then add them to the tasks list." - nobody has removed a task from the task list in years.
    2. reorder the list to prioritise completion of open tasks
    3. remove "# work on projects listed." because there are no projects listed, just tasks
    4. delete the Articles for assessment because nobody is assessing them and they are too daunting - at this rate they'll never be assessed
    5. maybe add a Collapse button and do some general tidy up.

Online Social workers are probably high Facebook users which might account for the exodus away from 2007/8 on (editing information is no fun when you can be the information!) therefore perhaps this project should reframe its objectives from tying to expand to trying to improve articles.SeventhHell (talk) 14:34, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

    Project page issues[edit]

May I suggest that you create an account, join the project, and help out? If you have any questions, you are always welcome to ask me on my talk page. Sam Sailor Talk! 20:36, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    I understand. Can you help-out on the above concerns.117.213.18.85 (talk) 06:23, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what is meant by "errors that obstruct viewing content same as the source in Participants." or "organized in a pro manner." Can anyone else make sense of this? Daask (talk) 14:19, 8 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

    start article about red-zoning?[edit]

I was thinking of adding "red zoning" to list of Articles that need to be written, but thought I'd ask via this talk page first. Piece in The Globe and Mail about red zones. --EarthFurst (talk) 01:38, 20 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

    Article issues[edit]

There are comments at Talk:Jane Addams#Article issues that might be of interest to members. Otr500 (talk) 13:15, 4 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Help with Poverty Industrial Complex[edit]

I created Poverty Industrial Complex because I deemed it an important topic and something that people need to be aware of. However I'm sure that both linguistically and economically it need improvement. I'd be thankful of some of you could help with it. The article deals with funds meant to go towards vulnerable members of the society being misappropriated both through bureaucracies and privat for- profit contractors.--Sparrow (麻雀) 🐧 12:07, 29 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Aryanization compared to Affirmative action[edit]

Zezen[1] and GizzyCatBella[2] are comparing the anti-racist Affirmative action policy to the Nazi policy of Aryanization. This is deplorable, and Wikipedia should stop this!

This stub needs TLC. Bearian (talk) 01:30, 20 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like this has been re-worked in last 3 years and now redirects to American Counseling Association. Tacyarg (talk) 17:34, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

    Article discussion requested[edit]

Could I get some people to please comment on Talk:Group work about what the article is even supposed to be about? Thank you, Oiyarbepsy (talk) 04:37, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Our Youth Social Community[edit]

NGO from India which is notable as per references and I would like to seek help in making it an article. Lakshmijourno (talk) 02:08, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

    Project-independent quality assessments[edit]

Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present. Aymatth2 (talk) 14:21, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is a requested move discussion at Talk:WIC#Requested move 5 May 2024 that may be of interest to members of this WikiProject. Wikiexplorationandhelping (talk) 05:14, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
