They are doing everything they can to drive me away from their platforms. My main use of FB at this point is to stay in communication with some people and a couple of special interest groups I run.

Good luck with that with the cuts they've made to NASA and the general contempt for science in this administration. It would likely just be a way to funnel huge amounts of taxpayer money to a few favored companies. Like, ummmm, SpaceX.

Forcing me to switch to win11 and buy all new hardware and do it at a time of ridiculously high prices for things like RAM may push me to linux at home.

He violated the rule that if you want to dominate the market you don't tell the market what to do, you meet what the market wants.

80? How about some 20 yr old who has never programmed or debugged anything in their life? They are used to things working out of the box.

I hate looking for recommendations for a version of linux and getting literally dozens of versions tossed at me. Articles are constantly mentioning versions I've never heard of before. I have to wonder how committed the open source community is to supporting any of these. I don't want to commit myself to some version only to find out that the OS community is no longer updating it a year later. My feeling is the Linux world has spread itself too thin and been too open to endless versions and forks.
Then there are the discussions on how to deal with seemingly simple issues that become ridiculously complicated networking and config discussions. No wonder the majority of consumers won't touch it.

Amazing how execs are so valuable and unique that they can't be replaced by AI. I could see many millions saved for just a few of these dead weights.

At this point I'm thinking that it is just a normal human condition and shouldn't be diagnosed as a disability. It is like calling hunger a disability. This is something to be exploited by helicopter parents and students looking for an advantage.

How is this any different from paying with a credit card? Americans have been carrying significant credit card debt for decades.
