        2023年12月4日追記。 この記事は2023年の9月下旬に書かれた記事です。 わりと反射的に書いてしまった内容も含んでるので(CNCFのリリースにもコメントを寄越していたGruntworkの関わりを見逃してたのは痛恨のミス。色んな思いがあるのはそれはそう)、本件について語るにもっと最適な方の説明を読んでいただければ幸いです。 先月行われたHashiCorp社によるソフトウェアライセンスの変更はTerraformコミュニティに衝撃を与えたことは記憶に新しい。具体的には、Terraformのライセンスが、オープンソース/フリーソフトウェアを前提としたMPL2.0から、商用利用に制限をかけられたBSLv1.1に変更された。これにより、Terraformは伝統的な意味でのオープンソースソフトウェアではなくなってしまい、ソースコードが単に利用できるソフトウェアに変わってしまったと評する人もいる。[

                                              こんにちは、クラウドエースの阿部です。 今回の記事では、 2024 年1月10日に正式リリースされた OpenTofu について紹介したいと思います。 OpenTofu とは OpenTofu は、Terraform からフォークして開発を開始したオープンソースソフトウェア(OSS)です。 OpenTofu プロジェクトが発足した詳細は割愛しますが、去年10月頃から Hashicorp 社は公開している OSS のライセンスを MPL2.0 から BSL1.1 に変更したことに伴い、Terraform のソースコードを流用したり Terraform 自体を自社提供サービスに組み込んでいる組織が継続できないおそれがでたため、MPL 2.0 の時点の最新版(Terraform 1.5 系)からフォークしてライセンスの問題に対応するプロジェクトを発足した、と筆者は認識しています。なお

                                                  3行 現時点ではOpenTofu 1.6.0はユーザー体験としてはほぼTerraform 1.6なので、コマンドがterraform→tofuになった以外はユーザー側で感じる変化はなさそう︵設定ファイルやstateファイルなどもTerraformそのまま︶。Mackerel Providerも動く。 Provider側としては、すでに登録されているProviderであれば、当面は何もしなくてもGitHubリリースしたものがOpenTofuレジストリに最新反映される模様︵GPG署名している場合は公開鍵をレジストリにサブミットする必要あり︶。 今の時点では問題ないと言っても、OpenTofu/Terraformの乖離が進んで互換性が失われると、Providerは別リポジトリを用意する必要がありそう or Terraform/OpenTofuどちらかを諦めることになりそう。3行 背景 ユーザー
