    Joe Don Baker

Baker was born in Groesbeck, Texas, as per wikipedia. Under Grosebeck, Texas, as per wikipedia, he is not included on the list of Notable People. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:6080:A508:D600:4D4:AE0A:8AF2:B37 (talk) 00:43, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I added Joe Don BakertoGroesbeck, Texas notable persons section. RudolfRed (talk) 02:14, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I just fixed the entire "Notable people" section of this article. There were two IP edits that messed up the names, while also removing Baker. Cmr08 (talk) 04:57, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    Thanks! RudolfRed (talk) 16:25, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Trying to remove the redirect on Jason Luna's name

Jason Luna's name currently redirects to the "1 vs. 100" page. I think this redirect should be removed so that he can have his own page at some point. He has also appeared on GSN's "Masterminds" and the syndicated "25 words or less", as well as some acting projects, so the redirect is limiting in its nature. This redirect does not seem to be useful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2603:8000:A900:47A1:D13B:A3DE:7DC:E6A2 (talk) 06:29, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IP editor, an article can be written as a draft then moved to Jason Luna via Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests, so the redirect should not be a problem. TSventon (talk) 06:53, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
We now strongly recommend the use of the "draft" process for new articles: see WP:YFA. When a draft is ultimately accepted, the reviewer will take care of this detail as part of the process. -Arch dude (talk) 14:24, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question, please forward to customer service

Why are you allowing Barbara O'Neill character's assassination on your website. She is a naturopath, herbalist, nutritionist and a former nurse. By you allowing this unfounded information you are lying to the public. All she does is advocate for natural remedies and clean living. You know, healthy food, exercise, fresh air, sunshine etc. Please review what you are letting be published. She is a fine person and does not deserve this treatment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOThmw0e7ZM

Thank you, Jennifer Lueders — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:3A80:9090:2531:C275:62D7:F8DF (talk) 19:17, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. This is a volunteer project. There is no "customer service". If you have suggestions for improving an article, start a discussion on that article's talk page. Wikipedia articles will reflect what is reported in published reliable sources. RudolfRed (talk) 19:50, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) The article's talk page is Talk:Barbara O'Neill. A YouTube video by O'Neill's spouse promoting his book would not be considered an independent source. Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 19:55, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there a redirect without a direct?

If I search “van Gerwen” into the Wikpedia search bar it redirects me to the Michael van Gerwen page, but why does it do that when there is no redirect on that page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Glen Glens (talkcontribs) 19:40, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Glen Glens: Van Gerwen is a redirect to Michael van Gerwen. Can you clarify your question? RudolfRed (talk) 19:52, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Glen Glens: The mechanism to perform the redirect is at Van Gerwen. Some articles have a {{redirect}} template when they are the target of the redirect (especially if editors think that the readers may be looking for another article), but this one does not. GoingBatty (talk) 19:58, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Often Wikipedia will tell me about a redirect e.g. if I search "Einstein" then the Albert Einstein article informs me about the redirect, why does the "Van Gerwen" search not inform me?--Glen Glens (talk) 20:15, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Glen Glens: Are you not seeing the (Redirected from Van Gerwen) underneath Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia right under the article's title? It shows up for me. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 20:47, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) @Glen Glens: When you go to Einstein, you get redirected to Albert Einstein, there's a small message at the top, stating "(Redirected from Einstein)". Similarly, when you go to Van Gerwen, you get redirected to Michael van Gerwen, and there's a small message at the top, stating "(Redirected from Michael van Gerwen)".
The Albert Einstein article also states "Einstein" redirects here. For other uses, see Einstein (disambiguation) and Albert Einstein (disambiguation). There is no Van Gerwen (disambiguation) article, but if you can think of related articles, you may be bold and add something similar to the Michael van Gerwen article, or make a suggestion at the Talk:Michael van Gerwen page. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 20:51, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I can see that tbe redirect is on the "van Gerwen" article. It makes sense now. Thanks.--Glen Glens (talk) 09:25, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Are capitalization rules suspended if the title of a work does not follow standard rules?

Hi there, still a relatively new editor/contributor here. I was looking at the page for the album Out Here With You and noticed someone changed the name of the page to a lowercase 'w' in 'with'. As far as I can tell, 'With' is supposed to be capitalized, as that is how it is in every official release of the album (spotify, apple music, etc). I know that for stylized names of artists (like deadmau5), usually standard capitalization is followed on wikipedia, but what about published works that have a definitive title? The capitalization page was unclear on this for me. Superlucer (talk) 20:22, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Superlucer: Hi there! The appropriate guideline can be found at MOS:TITLECAPS. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 20:57, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Mjd6060, what article are we talking about? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 21:44, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Come back here if you have difficulties. -Arch dude (talk) 22:01, 14 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Animal GAs

I recently promoted the article Kererū to GA status. Where should we put animal-related GAs on the GA main page – I don't see a category that applies to them? Mover of molehills (talk) 01:58, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Under Did You Know, like any other newly GA article, right? Or am I misunderstanding the question? RudolfRed (talk) 02:07, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Mover of molehills: The natural sciences page has a section for organisms, with a subsection for birds, which I believe would be most appropriate. Thanks for reviewing and helping promote that article! Isabelle 🔔 03:09, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a tool or bot that creates references named "auto"?

AtSaudi Arabia there are several errors showing in the reference section, such as " Cite error: The named reference auto was invoked but never defined (see the help page)." The names are auto, auto1, auto2, auto3, and auto4. Is there some tool or bot that creates references with names like this? It seems unlikely to me that a human editor would choose names like this. RudolfRed (talk) 02:16, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think that you can answer this question by studying the history of the article. Ruslik_Zero 05:16, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@RudolfRed: as far as I am aware, refill uses these names if it encounters multiple refs to the same url. Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 05:24, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@RudolfRed: Using WikiBlame, I confirmed that they were added by reFill in this edit. GoingBatty (talk) 18:11, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Need Guidance

    Hi,

I hope you are fine and doing well God Bless You. Recently I just add iCrowdNewswire in the following post/article https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_press_release_agencies of Wikipedia. But without notifying me any issue some authors delete my content which is totally according to the already added companies. Please guide me about that.

    Thanks & Regards,

Joe Smith — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jsmith iCN (talkcontribs) 10:13, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jsmith iCN From your username, I gather you are an employee of this company; please review conflict of interest and paid editing for information on required formal disclosures you must make. Regarding your question, the article you edited is not meant as a list of every such company in existence, but a list of those with Wikipedia articles. To merit an article, your company must receive significant coverage in independent reliable sources that have chosen on their own to write about it, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable company. As you have a conflict of interest, you should not write such article yourself. 331dot (talk) 10:17, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The definition of the word hobo.

Can you please fix the definition of the word hobo. The definition that you have up is actually referring to tramps not Hobo's. A tramp is someone who travels for work. A hobo is someone who travels by freight train to migratory work. You are not considered a hobo unless you ride freight trains.

I lived this lifestyle for over a decade. I traveled as a tramp and as a hobo. Your current definition is offensive to both tramps and Hobo's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.136.39.178 (talk) 11:09, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please address any concerns with that article to its talk page, Talk:Hobo, along with any independent reliable sources to support what you say. Unfortunately, we cannot just take your word for it, no matter how accurate what you say is. 331dot (talk) 11:10, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct about the definition (not so sure about the freight train part). The sources and the quote in the Etymology section contradict the first sentence. I'll get around to it later. Clarityfiend (talk) 13:10, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Can you please review the page I have created. I have added 3 new citations to 3 trustworthy sites and I want to see if that will be enough to meet the requirements for notabilty. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:George_Cervantes

Thank you in advance, Marco — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marcorubiocali (talkcontribs) 12:53, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No, in its current form the draft does not meet Wikipedia's requirements.. Your citations need to be provided as footnotes to show which parts of the text they support. You have been given links in the past to WP:Referencing for beginners, and you need to read that, and it would be wise for you to read the other useful links which you have been provided (on the draft and on your user talk page). You have also merely provided bare URLs, so you need to expand them. --David Biddulph (talk) 13:31, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for taking time to epxlain everything in detail. I will go ahead and do everything you said. Thank you. --Marcorubiocali (talk) 17:46, 15 October 2021 (UTC) I have made the chances you requested. Can you please see if that meets the requirements. Thank you for guiding me in the right direction and giving me the full details of what I had to do in order to get the page up and running. Thank you again! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:George_Cervantes --Marcorubiocali (talk) 18:06, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Marcorubiocali: I fixed the references for you, did some copyediting per WP:SURNAME, and tagged the last two sentences as needing references. If the draft currently contains the best independent reliable sources you can find, I agree that he is not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. GoingBatty (talk) 18:22, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for helping out. I will try to look for more trustworthy sources that I can use for the page. --Marcorubiocali (talk) 18:27, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

“Mormanism” and “Mormans” is a misnomer

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the correct name of the church. And we ask that we might no longer be referred to as “Morman’s.” It was a name given to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by non-allies when the church was first forming. For more information please visit https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/church/news/mormon-is-out-church-releases-statement-on-how-to-refer-to-the-organization?lang=eng . Morman was a Breton chieftain, and nothing to do with your church. It would indeed be incorrect to use the word to describe your church. --David Biddulph (talk) 14:24, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the complaint is about the use of the term Mormon but since the IP user can't spell that correctly and it is a WP:COMMON name for one strand of that church, perhaps no action is needed, David Biddulph. Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:59, 15 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

where is the official communication area or storage among users/wikipedians?

Hello there, is it any mailing list? Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost? -- Ktsquare (talk) 02:14, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Ktsquare: Hi there! The official communication areas include millions of talk pages and Wikipedia pages (like this help desk). There are many mailing lists (see Wikipedia:Mailing lists), including Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Subscribe. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 02:43, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to communicate with other admins you could consider using the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard. Thincat (talk) 11:07, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Ktsquare: Note also that all entries in all of those "communication areas" are retrievable using the "history" of the respective pages all the way back to the creation of each page, which in some cases occurred in 2003. (Except for rare cases of revision deletion for causes including copyright violations and disclosures of personal information). I think this may be the "storage" you refer to. You are not supposed to "store" random stuff on Wikipedia's servers, but you can create subpages of your user page for stuff you are working on for inclusion in Wikipedia or related to inclusion in Wikipedia. We also have projects, and those projects have talk pages for collaboration with other Wikipedians. -Arch dude (talk) 18:40, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    The Stroke page of Wikipedia

I think you should have the definition of stroke be "->-<-<-<<-<-<->>>-><-<-<-><-<-" because I've seen videos (in school contexts) and thats what they've looked like, plus my friend showed me a video of bingus and it looked like it had a stroke and bingus went like "->-<-<-<<-<-<->>>-><-<-<-><-<-" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.128.40.15 (talk) 02:40, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! The best place for constructive feedback about an article is the article's talk page (e.g. Talk:Stroke), preferably with published reliable sources. Happy editing! (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) I have no idea what form of Stroke (disambiguation) the OP is referring to, but I doubt it's the medical kind: my best guess would have been Rowing stroke, were it not that "bingus" may refer to a cat stroking video(?) momentarily popular on something called "Instagram." {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.193.128.151 (talk) 19:33, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have this weird problem with the Wikipedia pages in English on Chrome.

Everything (text and pictures) are about threee times as large as normal on any page in English. Everything goes back to normal size when I shift to another language (Swedish, German, French, Danish ...) or when I use Firefox instead.

Not the end of the world but a little bit annoying.

Ps. I use a Windows 10 Home, version 20H2 disktop computer. The Chrome version is 94.0.4606.81 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mffanders (talkcontribs) 10:54, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    You're more likely to get an answer at Wikipedia:Reference desk/Computing. Clarityfiend (talk) 11:09, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Have you tried clicking ctrl-0 when viewing one of these enlarged pages? Maproom (talk) 11:55, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How I Can Make Page of My Organization

    Hi

I am a health Professional and Article Writer on www.pharmapedia.pk. how i can Make a Attractive page on wikipedia of my Organization Pharmapedia Pakistan. Please help us. Thanks Azam Maroof — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pharmapediaa (talkcontribs) 12:36, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You probably cannot, Pharmapediaa. Please read Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide very carefully. -- Hoary (talk) 12:47, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly you need to read about conflict of interest and paid editing, then you need to understand that Wikipedia is not for promotion. You also need to read WP:CORPNAME. After all that you can read Wikipedia's definition of notability for companies. --David Biddulph (talk) 12:50, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Can I get a permission to upload mp3 to Commons?

Hi, I found this page https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Extended_uploaders, but I do not understand how can I get this permission. Extended Uploaders role still exists? I know about copyrights.

    Vitaly Zdanevich (talk) 15:57, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The page to which you linked says: "Extended uploader has been discontinued per community consensus ..." --David Biddulph (talk) 16:11, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
According to c:Commons:File types#Sound, you need to be autopatrolled in order to upload MP3 files. You can request it at c:Commons:Requests for rights#Autopatrol. For further questions about Commons, I recommend you go to c:Commons:Help desk instead. – Rummskartoffel 16:29, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I created this article, but a similar article exists as 2021 Durga idol vandalism and violence in Bangladesh.

Don't know how to merge or redirect. --ZebraaaLounge (talk) 16:32, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@ZebraaaLounge: Since you are the only substantive contributor to your article, just go ahead and edit the existing article to add any new material from your article (i.e., "merge" your material). Then, change your article into a redirect by completely removing its current contents and replacing them with the following:
#REDIRECT [[2021 Durga idol vandalism and violence in Bangladesh]]
Add comments on the talk pages of both articles (yes, your redirect is still an "article" with a talk page) to explain what you did. Your work is still available in the history of what will now be the redirect. -Arch dude (talk) 17:16, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Sir Edward Crosbie, 5th Baronet

The Category "Wrongful Executions" has automatically listed Sir Edward Crosbie, 5th Baronet under "W". Could this be rectified to have him listed under "C"? Anne (talk) 17:23, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It was listed under W because that is what you told it to do in this edit. It has now been corrected. --David Biddulph (talk) 18:19, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Spacing between score and audio player

In the GA review for Gustav Mahler's Fourth Symphony, reviewer ErnestKrause made the following observation for this section of the article:

Musical scores included with optional tabs to listen to a musical sample appears to have text which "bleeds" fonts into one another. For example, the piano symbol 'p' flows or bleeds into the frame box for the musical sample box. This could be helped by adding an extra blank line judiciously between the musical scores included and their associated music sample tabs.

However neither of us actually know how to do this. I would appreciate it a lot if someone more experienced in Wikipedia music scores could give us a hand. GeneralPoxter (talkcontribs) 18:57, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@GeneralPoxter: I see that the article is in the scope of Wikipedia:WikiProject Classical music. If you ask on the project's talk page you are more likely to get fine someone who knows that stuff. -Arch dude (talk) 22:25, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Pls edit help at Socrates/Talk page

Hi, my TP reply in a thread on a typo re "Sophocles" appears beneath the next section, can't seem to fix it. No big job, but big thanks. T — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.208.86.134 (talk) 23:32, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Did this edit fix the problem? It appears that you commented below the Good Article review transclusion (the {{Talk:Socrates/GA2}} in the wikitext source). – Anon423 (talk) 01:49, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi and mille grazie, champion fixer of beginners' misedits :) Yes, problem solved. When I saw the layout miss, I tried to cut&paste it without any spaces to the last line of the previous poster, but to no avail. I guess I shall have to look up transclusion. Thx again, and all the best. T 84.208.86.134 (talk) 02:36, 17 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Nazi flag depicting German nation

    To whom may concern

I was researching about disasters in the world and there is a table with a list of them with fatalities and the nations involved. Unfortunately, the Nazi flag is wrongly put as the German flag. I would say this may be a disrespect to German people and innacurate information to the page. I suggest to edit the mentioned flag to the proper one. Find it in the link below: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dam_failure#List_of_major_dam_failures

    I look forward your response.

Best regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2804:14C:101:816C:54A3:CC4:51C9:552F (talk) 23:32, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Those dam failures took place during the Nazi regime, so the Nazi flag would make sense there (especially as they failed due to being bombed). India and Canada both use their colonial flags for the Gohna Lake dam-burst and Hog's Back Dam failures, respectively, rather than their modern ones. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Jéské Couriano 23:37, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
