  • Ethiopia announces an agreement with Somaliland to use 20 km of coastline in exchange for eventual recognition of Somaliland's Declaration of Independence.^[3]
  • BRICS: Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates join the BRICS group, doubling the size of the group.^[4]
  • 2023 Israeli judicial reform: The Supreme Court of Israel strikes down the "reasonableness" bill passed by the Knesset in July 2023.^[5]
