Anđela Ignjatović (Serbian Cyrillic: Анђела Игњатовић; born 19 May 2001), known professionally as Breskvica (Serbian Cyrillic: Бресквица, pronounced [brêskvitsa], lit.'Little Peach'), is a Serbian singer and rapper. She made her recording debut with the single "Utopia" in 2019. Breskvica rose to more significant popularity by collaborating with her then-boyfriend Voyage on a series of singles between 2019 and 2021. Together they received the YouTube Star Award at the 2020 Music Awards Ceremony.

Following their breakup in 2021, Breskvica pursued a solo career in July with the single "Srećan put". She has had seven top ten singles on the Billboard Croatia Songs chart, including the chart-topping "Drift" (2023) with Teodora.

    Life and career

    [edit]

Ignjatović was born on 19 May 2001 in Belgrade.[1] She plays the piano and guitar.[2] She holds dual Serbian and Croatian citizenships.[citation needed]

She released her debut single "Utopia" in early 2019.[3] The same year she signed a record deal with the label Generacija Zed.[4] From 2019 to 2021 she collaborated on numerous occasions with her ex-boyfriend Voyage.[5] At the 2020 Music Awards Ceremony, Ignjatović won the YouTube Star award for her collaboration "Vrati me" ("Return Me") with Voyage.[6] In 2021, Ignjatović parted ways with Voyage and continued to release music as a solo artist.[7] Following her breakup with Voyage, Breskvica released『Srećan put』("Have a Nice Trip") in July 2021.[8] The music video for the single has collected over 30 million views.[8] In early 2022, Ignjatović released two singles, "Maska" ("Mask") and collaboration with MC Stojan titled『Život si moj』("You're My Life").[9] The later became her first song to chart on Billboard's newly introduced Croatia Songs chart.[10] In late 2022, she collaborated with Henny on the track "Sava i Dunav" ("Sava and Danube"), which fast turned into one of her most successful songs. Breskvica began the year 2023 with the single『Sa anđelima』("With Angels"). She collaborated with Teodora on the single "Drift", which was released in March 2023. The single topped the Billboard Croatia Songs chart.[11]

During 2023, Breskvica changed her image drastically, leaving the trap sound behind in favour of more traditional folk and turbo-folk sound.[12] Dressed in the Serbian national costume, she covered Danica Crnogorčević's "Veseli se, srpski rode" ("Rejoice, Serb Kin") during her set at the Music Week festival.[13] She then released『Do gole kože』("To the Bare Skin") and "Vidi se" ("It's Obvious").[14][15] On 21 December 2023, she was announced among the participants of Pesma za Evroviziju '24, the Serbian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, with the song "Gnezdo orlovo" ("The Eagle's Nest").[16] The song qualified for the final,[17] where it finished second despite winning the televoting.

    Personal life

    [edit]

Ignjatović was in a relationship with fellow musician Voyage. The couple broke up in January 2021 after two years of dating.[18] In July 2021, it was revealed that Ignjatović started dating Nemanja Stanisavljević who works as a policeman and a bodyguard.[19][20]
