    Early life and education[edit]

    Margaretha de Boer was born on 16 April 1939 in Amsterdam.[1] She studied at a social academy [nl].[citation needed]

    Political career[edit]

    De Boer is a member of the Dutch Labour Party (PvdA). She was Queen's CommissionerofDrenthe (1993–1994), Minister of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment in the First Kok cabinet (1994–1998), Member of the House of Representatives (1998–2001), MayorofLeeuwarden (2001–2004), and Mayor of Hoogeveen (2010–2011).[1]
