Context[edit]

This article doesn't even seem to mention the Polish-Lithuanian War? This is important in contextualizing the troubled relations between Poland and Lithuania at that time. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:38, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Grodno was a lonely Belarusian island"[edit]

And a bit more neutral "Grodno quickly became the center of Belarusian political life". But Grodno Region states that "By 1939, the Grodno city had 60,000 inhabitants, with Poles and Jews accounting for 60% and 37% of the population, respectively." Do we have any info on demographics of Grodno in the 1910s and 20s? (In either case, this information may be more relevant to the article on Grodno Region or Grodno than here). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:41, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I guess it's not very clear, but my point writing this was that Grodno at that time was basically only town where some kind of Belarusian political life was going on. I guess it's not the best wording because it could suggest that Grodno was somehow controlled by Belarusian troops - it wasn't, the city was under a control of Germany army, which transferred the control directly to Polish army. Marcelus (talk) 07:55, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'd suggest adding a reference, preferably with a quotation, for the claim that "Grodno quickly became the center of Belarusian political life". And yes, the island probably need to go, it's a bit too poetic of a phrase for an encyclopedia IMHO. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:42, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I think it was from Łatyszonek, who used similar wording, I'll change when I have a chance to check the source Marcelus (talk) 09:54, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
