I'm uncertain whether it's a shield volcano in the sense that Olympus Mons is. It's more like a pancake in profile--a kind of volcano unique to Mars. Schaffman (talk) 10:30, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm about to write the geology section. Before that though, I'm going through the Ivanov and Head (2006) paper to update the figures on the volcano's dimensions and elevations from those previously published (pre-MOLA).
