First Indegenous Media Centre

[edit]

Really? There are many media centres spread all over East Africa and I certainly don't think the one put there is The first... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arthurbuliva (talkcontribs) 05:24, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"A-town" is slang for Arusha? Since when? --Simbamangu 11:37, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

See Arusha Times, "UAACC Film makers set to document Kolo Rock Paintings" (http://www.ntz.info/gen/b00861.html), XPlastaz web site (http://www.xplastaz.com/v2/albuminfo.html), also the phrase seems to be in common currency on KissFM. --Ixanthus 16:40, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

--- I stand corrected ... apparently it IS in not-quite-common use, but considered amusing if it comes up in conversation. Anyone know the etymology of this? Simbamangu 11:36, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Crapload of earthquakes

[edit]

Around one or two of the mountains/volcanoes/whatever, there are 5.6 rated earthquakes going on. What's up with that?

THIS ARTICLE NEED TO BE UPDATED BECAUSE LAST TWO YEARS THERE HAVE BEEN MORE CHANGES IN ARUSHA THAT 10YEARS AGO..... ANYONE ????

This article truly needs to be edited & updated. It is woefully out of date (as is the wikitravel article on Arusha). There has been a huge amount of new hotels and other services built in the last 10 years. The most misleading & incorrect part of this article is: "North of Arusha is a district called Karatu, Ngorongoro, Monduli, Arumeru and Longido. It is about 90 minutes north of Arusha by daladala along the Arusha-Nairobi Road. Robanda Safari Camp is one of the favorite Safari Camp. Robanda Safari Camp is located just outside Serengeti Ikoma Gate. This location was carefully chosen so as to be right in the path of the wildebeest migration." All of the "district" named are a number of different districts that are not all "north" of Arusha. Also the Robanda Safari Camp is a nice enough camp - as are dozens of others in the Serengeti. The advertisement for Robanda has no business in this article. Additionally, Robanda is not on the Arusha-Nairobi Road; it is just outside the northwestern part of the Serengeti - completely different area. Additionally, no one travels through the Serengeti in a daladala & Ikoma gate is a good six hour drive from Arusha - not 90 minutes by daladala. I would like to work on this article, but simply do not have the time or editing expertise. Is it possible for me to put text in this talk page & one of the more experienced editors place it in the article? Thanks, Susan Safarisue (talk) 10:42, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I fail to see the need to have a link to the UN Security Council Resolution article. Can this be removed or what was the reason for it? Demerzel (talk) 13:10, 24 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Population

[edit]

Can anyone provide a link to any source of high reliability showing the current population of Arusha? Because this figure in different language editions ranges from 90 000 (according to plwiki, where it's based on a national Warsaw encyclopedia) to 1.28 mln. I realise that African cities grow fast, but the precise number must be declared somewhere.--Microcell (talk) 15:37, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Even in English, the population figure on other Tanzania pages is around 280K, not 1,280,000. It seems like the million unit was added incorrectly —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.246.156.214 (talk) 20:49, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Many documentary and feature-length films ...

[edit]

... have been set in and around Arusha."
Except that "many" appears to be 1 John Wayne movie made 50 years ago.
