This article has been checked against the following criteria for B-class status:
His Guardian obituary says he was 93, which means 1909. The Evening Standard article stated he would be 79 in October 1988, so another vote for 1909. The Golf Bible article mentions he was born in 1909 in an article about his brother. The third reference (from something called the Global Golf Post) mentions in passing that he was two years older than his brother, Robert Sweeny Jr., who was born in 1911. However, an AP article about his second divorce says he was 55 in March 1966, so one vote for 1910. Then there's that gravestone. So I'll add both possibilities.
