List[edit]

I have a made a start on the requested changes above. I am not terribly happy with the ubiquitous List of places ...., which needs an entry being made every time someone writes an article; it also seems to me that a separate list for towns (which are few) and villages (which are very many) makes a very complicated collection. I have therefore added to the note Category:Villages in East Sussex where an entry appears every time with a category ref of course. Peter Shearan 07:44, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Highest point[edit]

In the section "Inland" it states both that Firle Beacon and Ditchling Beacon are the highest point in the county. I believe Ditchling to hold that honour, and the heights quoted support this. I presume that Firle holds a record which warrants its mention, but perhaps an editing error has left it dangling. Whatever the actual situation, it needs tidying up!--King Hildebrand 17:17, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unclear[edit]

It is some two-and-a-half years since I last looked at this article. In essence it does not read very well at all. It is quite obviously a piecemeal affair, and some of the paragraphs do not really explain themselves.

I have made a start by including a heading Governance, which puts two sections together. Peter Shearan (talk) 06:40, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The rewrite is now complete: I have tried to eleminate all the lists, and have added further info where it is included in Wiki articles (eg footpaths, where only one was included). Although I still do not understand the Economy section!!! Peter Shearan (talk) 13:37, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Demography information[edit]

Has the Demography section been edited/removed? I remember there being a separate section on demography (growth rate, age, etc breakdowns) on all English County overviews. In particular there was information on ethnic breakdown, which was listed in the right side columns, after population. The spot where this was in the column is still visible but the actual data has evidently been deleted recently. Is anybody aware of this, or the reason? I did think ethnic statistics did needed to be in the summary column, but it should not have been removed from the page entirely.

-CLW, 13:38, 20 December 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.146.101.109 (talk)

I now see it was first removed by "OKBot" in mid 2008, no reason given. The previous 3 edits to that are very odd, in each one the ethnic breakdown information is changed (eg 96.5 -> 97.7 -> 99), although the changes are explicitly not mentioned in their description (other purposes are specified). Secret edit war? Why? -CLW, 20 December 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.146.101.109 (talk)

Have written a quick page on the Geology of East Sussex, I'm yet to add references, however have them to hand and want to/will add information regrading the later geological history and add some more structual information. Anything else that could be added?Jackdann88 (talk) 16:18, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Kyle[edit]

The link to 'Peter Kyle' in the info box goes to the wrong Peter Kyle. Should be Peter_Kyle_(politician). Am insufficient in wikiscript to fix this. 82.13.144.192 (talk) 11:34, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Fixed.Charles (talk) 13:04, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Population figure[edit]

I cannot see a source for the population estimate of 840,000 and it is vastly different from the figures shown in East Sussex County Council documents such as 552,000 in [1]. Does anyone know why there is such a massive discrepancy? Dudley Miles (talk) 11:50, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

East Sussex is not a County[edit]

East Sussex is not a County of England. The County is Sussex. East Sussex is just an administrative area as is West Sussex. Although called County Councils this is a misnomer chosen to inflate the self-importance of each administrative body. Please rename this article to make it clear that you are referring to an administrative area and not a County. DickatAmberleyMuseum (talk) 08:58, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

East Sussex is a county regardless of your prejudices. Murgatroyd49 (talk) 09:43, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
