Proposal to merge St Edmund's School, Hindhead, here[edit]

Oppose. School meets notability criteria. Moonraker (talk) 21:22, 20 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Beacon Hill[edit]

I think Beacon Hill should have its own page. It is historically and geographically a separate entity, is more populated than the settlement at Hindhead and has considerably more amenities. Tony Holkham (talk) 11:40, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Large or small village?[edit]

I have changed the intro back to large village for the reason indicated. Please discuss here if you feel strongly about it. Thanks Tony Holkham (talk) 14:07, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rail access[edit]

To editor SovalValtos: I wonder whether "Rail access to Hindhead..." is a bit odd when there isn't any. Perhaps just "The nearest railway station is at Haslemere etc..."? Tony Holkham (talk) 19:56, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It rather depends on whether one thinks Hindhead to be the centre of the world, or somewhere to be accessed. " Access to rail services is via....." is an alternative, but either would do, given no direct citation! SovalValtos (talk) 20:16, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Good point. T Tony Holkham (talk) 20:37, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think he could be added to the notable people section but might need a citation from the DNB to which I do not have access.SovalValtos (talk) 08:12, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Done Thanks, SV. An interesting character. ODNB can be accessed via any county library membership, which is free. I joined Lancashire as I had genealogical interests there, but I don't think it matters where you live. All the best, Tony. Tony Holkham (Talk) 12:54, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
