Inventor's day in German-speaking countries is dubious. It is _not_ an official thing in any way, shape or form and the amount of publicity is exactly 0; I live in .ch, study at a university in Zürich, and had _never_ heard of this crap before coming across this article. Can whoever added that paragraph justify notability? Maybe, just maybe, it is "big" in .at?

dear???? i don't think we should go by "i don't know it - it doesn't exist". searching for the german "tag der erfinder" in google gets you 27.400 results. mostly from .de and a few from .at if you go to the guys site you can find the media coverage unter the german word "presse" ~tom 9:13 11 november

The Google results show good marketing of the one guy behind the day, the whole thing is quite ridiculous. I might start a "astronaut day" on my birthday and proclaim it in wikipedia as well. There is virtually no media coverage of this apart from the poor original website Noleti (talk) 15:58, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I`m from Germany and I never heard of this day untill I found it here. It isn't an official thing and nearly no one in Germany takes notice of it, common news papers I read today don't mention it. And even if some inventors and scientists celebrate it, the whole things doesn't make sense today. Because november 9 is a very important commemoration day in Germany: in November Revolution 1918 emperor Wilhelm II abdicated and German Republic was declared. 1n 1923 Hitler failed with his Feldherrnhalle Putsch. And 1938 we had "Reichspogromnacht". And 1989 GDR opened "The Wall". Esp. "Reichspogromnacht" and falling of "The Wall" are commemorated today. "Inventors' Day" was proclaimed by a handful guys and my question is: why did they choose this important november 9? Is there a political background? Shouldn't be f.e. birthday of Carl Benz or Werner von Siemens a much better date for that? ManfredV (talk) 12:47, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There are lot of obscure American holidays that aren't widely known and aren't official here in the United States. If they meet the criteria for notability and are cited with reliable sources then they belong in on Wikipedia. Asarelah (talk) 16:17, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Moldova[edit]

Can anyone tell me how the date for Moldova's Inventor's Day is determined? I can't seem to locate information. Asarelah (talk) 16:17, 1 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
